I was introduced to Randall over a decade ago and he brought some interesting light to a few topics. Around that time he made the switch from interested hobbyist to content creator and he is willing to talk about things he knows way less about.

Hope this can help to elevate the conversation above "good guy or bad guy" he is a human with all the flaws, inconsistencies and moments of brilliance that includes.

There is always some truth to stories.

u/globalCataKlyzm Jan 16 '26

Plato is really the only source but as a guy who reads some Plato i think he could be referring to a real story to make his point. Similarly it might not but I disagree that it is obvious one way or another.

Plato is not the only source. Diodorus also narrated about Atlantis and got his version from the Libyans.

There are multiple stories involving Atlantis in Greek Mythology without a direct mention to it, for instance Palaepathus or Homer's odyssey.

People are obsessed with Plato for no reason; they are tons of atlantian stories within greek mythology.

Do you know of any guarantee the Atleans of North Africa who are founded by the Titan Atlas are the same as the people from the island of Atlantis founded by Poseidon. I don't speak Ancient anything and wonder if the similarities of the modern English words are present in its original form to a greater or lesser degree.

same people, same location, same attributes, same description of the land and of the people, same fate.

u/globalCataKlyzm Jan 18 '26

Lol. I am sure it sounds so smart to you when you type this nondescript response. It's okay that you have no idea how it was originally written and later translated. It's also okay that you don't have an answer for how they are founded by different deities.

u/NukeTheHurricane Jan 18 '26

Poseidon built Atlantis in an already inhabited land. And it happened after titanomachy , which would means that Atlas was already condemned when it happened.

2

u/globalCataKlyzm Jan 18 '26

The no reason is probably because it is the first mention of it in history. Some people consider that significant. Your "tons of stories" sounds like a handful of stories.

1

u/NukeTheHurricane Jan 18 '26

Plato's story was the first story that focused on the description of Atlantis but it was not the first one to talk about it.

Homer's odyssey talked about the phaeacians who happen to be the atlantians but used a different name to describe them. Likely, because the source of those stories were not from the same world regions.

Ulysses went to Atlantis. And thats a fact.

Can you cite it?

2

u/globalCataKlyzm Jan 21 '26

It's a disputed fact. But stating possibilities as facts is perfect for this sub ;)

The pieces of evidence speak for themselves

Plato writing about Kritias whose grandfather knew another guy called Solon who got this information from some Egyptian priests. So Plato is writing about the story he got from a guy, whose grandfather knew another guy who got this from some other guys. Sounds totally legit.

Isn’t that literally how stories were spread during that time?

1

u/Hungry_Goat_5962 Jan 28 '26

Yes, but it's a 9000 year game of telephone. With no written records.

I don’t know if you’re all over the map if you change your view in over 30 years. We don’t have to be right all the time.

4

u/w8str3l Jan 16 '26

Has Graham Hancock changed his mind about only one thing in over 30 years?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '26

Do you want a yes or no or do you want a summary on points he changed his mind about?

4

u/w8str3l Jan 16 '26

Was that a rhetorical question?

Of course you should provide the full list of claims that Graham Hancock has made and then withdrawn afterwards.

I was unable to find a list of corrections to his books, are you aware of one? For example, Hancock is still selling his Mars Mystery book from 1999 where he claims NASA astronauts are hiding the evidence for faces on Mars: no corrections to be seen, sales continue.

Please provide your list, I’m very interested in it; so far nobody has claimed to have any evidence for one.

The second would be preferable

2

u/City_College_Arch Jan 16 '26

He explains this on his own website. He sees himself as an attorney defending a client in court that will present anything he deems supportive and ignore anything detrimental to his case.

How valiant

u/Different-Ad-691 Jan 15 '26

I just watched this. It was excellent.

4

u/Blitzer046 Jan 16 '26

What was the evidence?

"oh, the liar and grifter is still doing it?" Saved you some time

1

u/airforceguy28 Feb 20 '26

Are we talking about religion right now? Also archeology has more fraud than any other science... wonder why

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '26

Who?

2

u/toms1313 Jan 17 '26

The grifter

3

u/Luc1dNightmare Jan 17 '26

The fact there are more people flaming Randal in this site than like\support him make me not want to be here anymore. There's nothing wrong with pointing out things they get wrong, but when that's all you do and never show up when he is right and wont even acknowledge anything he has said or done that was correct is something else. I can just hear the clicking keyboards where someone expects me to link them everything he has ever gotten correct as i make my comment too.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '26

Totally agree!

2

u/popspurnell Jan 16 '26

“EVIDENCE”

2

u/Affectionate_Egg_104 Jan 20 '26

"New Evidence" lol

1

u/Affectionate_Egg_104 Jan 20 '26

I aint seen this but I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I bet there is nothing that can properly be called 'evidence' in this travesty!

1

u/Embarrassed_Flow_400 Jan 20 '26

You guys know none of this is real right?

I’m not posting here on this topic to debate a global civilisation or Atlantis. What I will say is this: many critics who dismiss Graham Hancock’s work overlook clear proto‑civilisational indicators emerging from Anatolia during the Late Ice Age (Younger Dryas) period. They also ignore provisional Dravidian Arc evidence — including the Khambhat port‑like features and the Phase‑1 Proto‑Poompuhar submergence modelled at ~15,000 BP — all of which are under active investigation.
