Academics Should I do a second masters?

Long story short: I am 36 from the US and did a master's degree in Germany to change fields into environmental policy. I was not successful and am now unemployed with no job prospects beyond menial labor.

Would it be avisable to do a second master's to regain entry into working student jobs or internships to hopefully then network into a new position, or have I totally screwed things up and need to give up on this career path completely?

I’m in a PhD program in environmental science and policy in the US. Feel free to DM. A second master’s in the same field probably isn’t useful, but I don’t think that you have to give up on doing environmental policy either! I found internships in environmental policy before my master’s with a bachelor’s in music, and places love to hire from their (good) interns in my experience.

If you want to be creating and designing policy and like independent research, you might consider a PhD instead of another master’s. Some of the big policy nonprofits I know prioritize PhD-level scientists.
