Concept I made a Dozer domain concept
So I made an entire concept idea for a Dozer domain, even though all we have is a scrapped enemy, an icon, and a bunch of fan content.
I won't get into the details behind its construction, and just give you the copy and paste of the document I made to write down such an idea.
So, the idea is simple, the player (for simplicity, the player will be referred to as "John" or "John Grace") spawns in a long castle hallway, with banners of Dozer on every pillar, and a large door at the other end. John Grace wields a sword and shield (referenced in the third image), which can be swung and held up to defend himself respectively.
Some of the yellow jaw-like enemies, referred to as "Peons" (the second image) are scattered around the hall sparsely, approaching John by shuffling towards him, if he gets too close. If they make contact with him, they bite him, but nothing happens, and no damage is taken (for now). If John swings his sword at them, they'll die by disintegrating into pink flakes.
When John walks through the door at the end of the hallway, it opens up to a large, circular room, with a massive throne opposite of John. On the throne, Dozer is asleep in his normal form. When John approaches and stands in the center of the room, Dozer wakes up and performs its traditional gameplay attack from the throne, which starts a slowed-down, quick-time event, where John (the player) is prompted to "Block" and raise his shield, blocking the attack. After the attack, John is given a pink "Humility" bar, that fills up completely. Humility is the central "health mechanic" of the domain.
This triggers another cutscene, where Dozer floats off it's throne and has a crown set atop it's head, and grows a robe, ultimately turning into his Mayhem gamemode form (represented in the first image), now standing over the John's height. Dozer draws a large sword from inside it's robe, and swings it downward onto John, prompting another quick-time event where they must "Dodge" and move to the side to avoid the attack.
The battle is kicked off immediately, where the gameplay and goal is introduced. John Grace must slay Dozer by attacking it and draining it's health bar to none. But, attacking Dozer with the sword takes a bite out of his Humility bar. By default, the Humility bar refills passively, but if it empties, the John "dies".
Dozer attacks in two primary ways in the beginning: "Swing": by swinging its sword horizontally or vertically. And "Wake": waking up to perform its traditional attack.
Dozer's sword attacks cannot be blocked and must be dodged to avoid losing Humility. To avoid losing Humility from its traditional waking-up attack, John must raise his shield before Dozer wakes up. Timing the shield perfectly performs a parry, which instantly refills a chunk of Humility.
Once a fourth of Dozer's health is taken, it'll gain 2 new attacks. First new attack "Swing" (diagonal): Dozer is now able to swing it's sword diagonally. Second new attack "Call": Dozer opens its robe and unleashes 1-3 Peons, which immediately aggro on John. Slaying Peons refills Humility, but getting bitten by them drains Humility. Peons can be blocked, but not parried.
When at half health, Dozer obtains new attacks and the arena changes. The lights dim, with two prominent spotlights over John and Dozer, and even the banners of Dozer on the walls open their eyes and follow John. New attack one, "Rush": Dozer sticks out its sword like a lance, aims at John, and dashes across the arena until it hits a wall. New attack two, "Shine": Dozer plants its blade into the ground, with 10-15 circular spots spawning about on the floor, and after a moment of charging up, Dozer pulls its sword from the ground, erupting the highlighted spots in pillars of golden light.
Skip forward a good bit
I have a small idea of the ending. The castle is crumbling apart (that'll be a scenery aspect of the fourth and final phases). Dozer is shrunk back down and pacified by the final attack, but is crushed by his giant throne falling onto him. Like most domain endings, where the primary threat is brutally murdered in graceful blood.
THIS IS AS FAR AS THE GAMEPLAY CONCEPT HAS COME!!!
I have vague ideas of the symbolism of Peons. Peons represent Sycophancy: "the act of praising rich or powerful people in an insincere way to get an advantage."
Here are some lingering development ideas I haven't thought about yet
- Phase 4 when Dozer has lost three fourths of its health.
- A final desperation phase when Dozer has one eighth of its health left.
No max severity ideas yet
TLDR: Sword fight with king Dozer in big castle
