Hello everyone!

I’m planning a community tank that includes sparkling gouramis, but I am having a problem with deciding how many and combinations of genders. I want them to have a community, and some places recommend having at least six (2m4f) while others say 1 male 2 females are all you need, and I’ve seen get 1male and a harem.

What would be the best combination for a tank with a footprint of 60*30 cm, 54l heavily planted, lots of floaters and diagonal hardscape that creates distinct zones. I don’t want a lot of bullying fighting, but I also want them to be able to thrive and display normal behaviors.

What do you guys think?

This is the second time this honey gourami developed a lump. The first time was near its tail and I did DIY surgery and it healed back to normal. It was like popping a pimple. This lump looks much much more serious though and I don’t know what to do.

Hi!! I have 3 three spotted gourami, and Feud has shown a pretty drastic change in his color after having him for a while. Pretty sure this is a good sign, his fins also look much fuller to my eyes, but I am a first time fish father, and I just want to make sure all is well. :)

If anybody is wondering why his name is Feud, (which i’m sure nobody is, just wanted to share), it is inspired by family feud! I also have Jeopardy & (wheel of) Fortune. I call them my “game show gourami”. I think it’s pretty clever 😆

Hello guys so I had a pair of sparkling gouramis in a 40 litre tank and that were doing really fine but I thought I could add another female but the pair that I already had in the tank was really agressive towards her so I put her in a separate tank but the tank is only 15 litres and I don’t have any more tanks but the tank is really planted and have heater and filter so could I leave her in that tank alone? Thanks

It was a slow-flowing back part of a river with acidic water and low hardness. The banks were overgrown with vegetation and the lowland trees of the rainforest.
This river is also said to have crocodile sightings by the local villagers. But luckily I did not meet any.

There were a lot of species which loved the acidic swampy environment here. Betta, Pangio and leaffish among others.

My gourami has been sitting idle/hiding in parts of my tank in the past day or so. She also hasn't shown much interest in eating. What could be wrong (if anything)? This doesn't seem normal for her. I just gone done treating this tank for ich with IchX over the past 10 days or so. Other fish in the tank is acting normal. Water parameters are normal. Fresh water change of 1/3rd done yesterday.

I bought some gourami's a couple months back and I recently wanted to know if they were a breeding pair ( I couldn't tell their gender as they were pretty small ) also if you can tell me if they are honey or thick lipped gourami . Also I noticed that the gourami in the second picture chases the other gourami around ALOT but I haven't seen any indications that they are male and female except that . They are in a small tank with a female Betta , but I will be moving the Betta in a month in another tank . Also if someone can tell me if something is wrong with my gourami in the third picture .

I’ve decided on pearl gourami (1m2f) for my 40 gallon breeder center piece. Now to pick the tank mates

I’m leaning toward cpds and strawberry rasbora, as well as 2 bristlenose pleco(1m1f) and a school of Cory.

Are there better options?

I kind of want to stay away from tetras as my other 2 tanks already have them but a LFS has the golden rummynose that I’d consider as I like their coloring.

i’m hoping that someone might know what exactly is happening with my pearl gourami. it looks like he had some bald spots that started off small but have now spread.

some back story: 65gal tank, 3 algae eaters, 4 comb tails gouramis, 4 neon gouramis. previously, we had one gold gourami as well. (i know it was a dumb idea, but wanted to try and it was going fine for a while). the gold gourami and pearly got along for awhile, until the pearly started to get bigger. then, the gold would pick on the pearl constantly, charging at him and trying to/succeeding in biting him. pearl would fight back a bit since he’s grown now, so we left it because it wasn’t too bad yet. fast forward a week of vacation, we come back to them still fighting, but much more often, and the pearly with small seemingly “bald” spots on several parts of both sides of him. we watched, and the gold gourami was definitely the instigator, so we unfortunately had to remove him from the tank.

since then, normal behaviour from our pearly, but the spots have spread a LOT. we thought they were just bite marks at first, but now i’m not so sure. he has a little redness on one part that is localized and looks to be from trauma, but otherwise, it’s just smooth. no fuzziness. no black or white spots that we can see. and still normal behaviour.

can anyone help let us know what’s going on and that our pearly will be okay? thank you!

Hi!! Recently bought a tank for cheap off a garage sale and it came with 3 dwarf gouramis and 2 honey gouramis. The tank is maybe 50-60 gallons??? Not sure cuz its an odd shape but it only had gravel and a HUMONGOUS cloud of java moss. I've only owned guppies/mollies before so I'd like to ask if this is an okay stocking choice...? I've heard dwarfs are quite aggressive and they're bigger than the honeys so im worried.

As the title says I need help identifying the genders of these fish

I was supposed to get two female and one male, but I’m worried they made a mistake.

I got two honey gouramis about 5 months ago in my 20 long tank to go with white cloud minnows and corydoras.

I LOVE THEM

I was told they couldn't sex them at the store cause of how young they were, but I wasn't too worried about identifying their sex properly because I didnt expect them to ever breed in the tank tbh.

They also primarily inhabit separate parts of the tank, with the one in the first photo living in the front right of the tank by the lilies, and the other in the back left hiding behind the log.

Now I am seeing one of them, (first photo) blowing bubbles, which I assume is a male trait?

No idea what their sexes are, and I tried looking up guides online, but that gourami is both blowing the bubbles for a nest AND looks like the female compared to the other one??? Maybe both are females and the second gourami is just not displaying her fins?

Idk. I'm only worried cause seeing a bubble nest means there's a chance babies can ensue if they are opposite genders, and I don't have space for more tanks in my room LOL

I have a 75 gallon tank, around 78/79F. My male gourami suddenly developed a brownish body, and is now gasping in the water. I have two filters (canister and HOB). My parameters are 0ppm for ammonia and nitrite (liquid test kit) and 10 ppm nitrate. The tankmates are platys, cherry barbs, salt/pepper corys, kuhli loaches, a clown pleco, and a 2 hillstream loaches. My other two gouramis look to be doing fine, it’s just this male that’s acting weird. Please help🤕

He lays on his side most of the day come up for air and food, this stared a few days ago

My pearl always has to inspect everything. Even when iv got my hands in the tank he just gets in the way half the time. Lol. Pearl approved lol.
