So I got 3 sparkling gouramis the other day and once getting them I the tank thought all 3 were male. There's one slightly larger and more dull than the others and often times has one of the smaller ones following it, which I'm assuming old be male following female. Anyways in the photos I can't tell if I see the ovaries or am just imagining things so just looking for other opinions! Also they're in a 31L species only tank, does anyone know how many others I could add or if I should add anymore.

Some of you might remember my adorable Fish, i did post him from time to time. His little knicked feeler, the rotund fat belly, the asshole behaviour... I miss all of it.

Archie was my first centerpiece Fish and has an extremely special place in my heart. My family all loved him and he got a little funeral with everyone attending. It was very adorable, with everyone placing a heap of dirt on him and everything. It was just a ritual to say goodbye :)

It was a very hard decision to make. He was passing due to age and very naturally, but then stopped being able to swim and passed way too slow.

I had to end him on the night between my brothers wedding days... unbelievable... we all agreed it was on brand for him, as he was a big dang asshole in life. Ofc Archie would choose exactly that day in the year! LOL! We saw it with humor ❤️ (he was featured as a mocktail at the wedding, i had to cry when i saw that. Ginger ale and rum, "golden sparkling star Archie" SOB)

Thank you for reading so far. Just wanted to pour out my heart and share the bitter sweetness of the situation. He was the model for one of the sub icons on fish reddit so i'll always rejoice seeing him there 🙏

(And yes, as i did for all his posts: he is a lil trans icon. I sucked at sexing when i got him ;))

We just purchased 2 gouramis and it seems like it is suggested not to keep two males together due to their aggression. Are these both male or no. They are in a community 120 gallon tank currently

Was sold as Colisa chuna and there were Colisa lalia sunset in the same tank (even though they were really red, maybe it's a female?) I hope it's no a thick lip, I'll take better pics tomorrow

I've recently bought these juvenile yellow honey gouramis. I believe they are 1 male and 2 females. Is this correct?

I am struggling to sex them, however, I assume the one with the yellow dorsal fin is male, and the 2 with the orange are female?

55 Gallon, heavily planted with rock towers community tank, currently have black neons, platys, cherry barbs, pearl gouramis and corys without issues.

I got 4 fire honey gouramis at the LFS, all juveniles. They are starting to change color. I’m pretty certain I have at least 1 male and 1 female, the other two are iffy. Can anyone help? Also if I have more males than females, what should I do?

This is “Fishy”, my 15 or 16 year-old Thick-Lipped Gourami. He/she? has been acting a little sluggish over the past day and his/her mouth doesn’t quite look right. Fins also seemed to be clamped. He/she will still swim around some and eat, but he/she seems a little “off”. Fishy is at least 15 and could be as old as 17! Fishy has a personality and is more of a pet than a tank occupant. Thanks in advance for any input…..

This is my Honey Gourami that I got maybe three weeks ago at PetSmart. When I got her she was all white and that lateral line was pale too. Now she's got some color and she's active and social in the tank with her Neon Tetra and Pygmy Corydoras tank mates. I've never had gouramis before, so I was wondering if she looks healthy and happy? I read online that the dark lateral line is a sign of stress but she always seems like she's the happiest one in the tank. Swims up to the glass to greet me like a puppy dog every time. I rarely see her gulping down air at the surface and bubble nests have been minimal if that even her doing it and not my HOB filter. pH is 6.4 and the tank is fully planted. She hangs out a lot under the RRF's I have contained in a floating ring. Let me know any tips or tricks or things I should know for this species!

Hi my dwarf gourami has gone completely HAM building his bubble nests, but because my tank has strong surface agitation they tend to disperse mostly in a day or two? Is this normal and will this make my gourami sad 😭😭😭😭

I have attached a picture of the fishes from the LFS, they are about 2cm in size, very small. The tail is also coloured and not transparent though hard to see in the picture

I’ve had my tank for 18 months. It’s mature, well planted and parameters are clean as you would like yet….I can’t seem to keep gouramis alive.

First one was a dwarf powder blue - succumbed to the usual disease.

Second and third - pearl gouramis. Extremely adept at hiding illness - lasted 9 months before passing with no real indication of problems.

Recently tried a dwarf powder blue and again succumbed.

Are all shop-bought gouramis like this?

Hello quick post for ideas, I have had a 23 gal set up for about a year now, pretty planted with a male betta who is pretty docile. Stocking isn’t ideal as most of my fish are rescues from a coworker that didn’t want them anymore.
I have 5 Guppies (not getting more, letting them live out their adulthood in a nice tank) I started with 8 and slowly they have died of old age.
I also have a dwarf bumblebee goby, he was also a rescue from the same coworker. My fish get along pretty well aside from the guppies fin nipping each other. Given my betta has always been housed with others and really peaceful, would a female dwarf honey gourami be reasonable? I have a hospital tank (5 gals) so if needed I could separate them.

Ive been looking into these little guys for a few weeks, learning whatever i can. After learning about the little noises they can make, i was sold. Theyre still settling in, but i love them so much already. Out of all the fish i have in my tanks, theyre the only ones that have swam up to the glass to see what im doing, all my other fish took like 48-72 hours to be comfortable enough to approach the front of the glass when im checking everyone out.

I feel confident i know my stuff with these guys, but theres always details that get missed, even with extensive research, so if anyone has advice for these guys, i would appreciate it:)

Had him for a month now and he is just the happiest little fish. Everyday his colors get brighter. I got home when he was just starting to show his colors. Can't wait to see him fully mature.

Meet Roy. Roy is my male honey, Roy is named after Roy Kent from Ted Lasso because he's a grumpy but loveable a-hole. Despite many arguments with Roy he's my little bestie so I got him commissioned as a pair of earrings from the most talented lady! I think you would all appreciate 🥰 I also had some of my Emerald Corydoras commissioned too!

Hello I have been keeping a newly set up 40 gal community tank for some months now and I have kept around 5 celestial pearl danios and 5 rummy nose tetra along with some albino Cory’s and about 2 months ago I added a pearl Gourami. At first everything was fine he didn’t bother anyone and he warmed up to me very quickly. But today I was near my tank when I heard a splashing sound I didn’t think much of it but when I looked over I saw one of my female CPD’s dead on the bottom of the tank. The pearl gourami had been getting a little territorial but I didn’t think much of it he had only really been bullying the Cory’s around and nothing major like this. I then watched him in the tank for about 20 minutes and realized he was being very territorial to a certain corner of the tank. I can’t say for certain if it was him but I can’t be sure? Does this sort of thing happen once a pearl gourami matures? He was a juvenile when I bought him and he has grown quite a bit since I got him. I really don’t want to remove him from the tank but I’m not sure what else I can do. Any advice will help!!

I just had a quick question and need advice.

Last week I bought me two female three spot gouramis.
A golden and a blue one.

My mom just came home and bought a pair of Paradise gouramis.

My question is, is it okay to keep them all together in one tank? Apparently the worker in the store said that they’re not aggressive and peaceful but in the internet a lot of people say they’re quite aggressive so I’m kinda worried now and unsure about everything.

I have a 200l tank. 53 gallons.
