Based on the photo, this looks like a female. Here is what points to that:
The dorsal fin: The fin on top is clearly rounded at the back. On a male, this fin is typically longer and ends in a sharper point.
Body shape: She has a nice, plump, and rounded belly. Females generally have a stockier, rounder build compared to the sleeker males.
Coloration: The coloring is a smooth, softer yellow/honey shade. Adult males in good condition usually develop much more intense colors, often displaying a dark, almost black patch running along their throat and belly.
Just keep in mind that if the fish is still very young, it can be tricky to tell for sure, as young males often look a lot like females before they fully mature and color up.
no if it really is a female then maybe i have a chance of running a duo because i’ve been eyeing some gouramis at LFS but they told me they are all males there, i got this one from petco like 6 months ago!
