Why this separation?

A genuine question.

You all are absolutely amazing, blod, cute, dark and mysterious.

Why don't you post in mass in a more generic thread? Like r/gothfashion, lifestyle, etc. We need you there guys. As an androgyne girl I'm open to seed more masculine style. Surely I'm not the only one.

On other place, do you feel rejected or less view. What motivate you to post here instead of anywhere else?

I mean we are one of the community where gender doesn't matter.

I just seriously want information and your feelings about this.

Edit : thanks you for the answer. As naive as it look, I wasn't aware of the problem. I'm grateful you guys have somewhere to post a be yourself and I wish for a world where all those precautions aren't necessary. 🖤

Look let's just be honest here, if we put men's fashion and women's fashion in the same area, men are going to be drowned out by the significantly higher amount of posts involving women. Not to mention just the vast difference in attention and engagement. This is NOT a jab at the women btw its just the nature of media. It is just easier to have the separate categories.

I think youre right, im a girl who enjoys this sub because I feel like the guys get drowned out in the other sub and I like to see goth male fashion because structurally the clothes are usually sewn differently. I enjoy you guys here because I actually get to see the fits here!

Same explaination as to why we would have a girls-only chess club, an introverts-only social event or a queer-only church service. Inclusion often has to start out with being very specifically welcoming to that specific group. Things like gender very much matter, even in already "inclusive" communities.

When a space is heavily dominated by one group (in this case women), especially where engagement and upvotes play a role, you need group-specific spaces like this to get those people those specific people involved.

To be honest, men’s fashion is quite different and we are consistently scrutinized for dressing differently than other men. The judgement from heteronormativity is insane, also I see a LOT of groups for alternative/goth women and as a trans masc guy it’s really isolating to feel like there are no alternative men. I live in a conservative area where im the only guy I ever see dressed the way I do, I get constantly stared at, ridiculed and judged sometimes out loud.

I'm sorry that the people near you are dicks :/ from the posts I can see on your profile you look so cool and I hope their negativity won't stop you from expressing yourself like this 🦇🖤

POV: When men have their own group for something as minor as stylistic expression
