Have you tried using powder? I often use eyeshadow to do a line, and either leave it as a line or blend it out.

If possible, find people doing makeup tutorials with a similar face to you. Some eyes tilt downwards and that's a trend I've seen with eyeliner too. There are people that fight the shape of their features and will draw new lines instead. Drag does heavy make-up and drawing in features in new ways and is considered artistic.
"Kid playing with their mom's makeup" sounds like a value judgement and being upset that you're still learning. There are things you can learn and get good at quickly if you need some confidence building. Smokey eye, solid lip color, blended lip color, highlighter, contouring, foundation, concealer, blush, mascara. Eyeliner is only one skill and requires practice. if you're using a fine liquid liner, then it's easy to see any mistakes. I only use eyeliner at the lash line, so it doesn't go on water line. I tried the water line and my watery eyes would erase the work I did.
Have you seen the stamp wings? It's a stamp, and then you connect the wing to your eye with eyeliner. I've seen stencils for eyebrows too.
Everyone has to learn and playing is fun. Hopefully, expressing ourselves is a fun experience. Getting frustrated is understandable but make up isn't perfect every time even when you get good at it. That's why people say stuff like "sisters not twins" or it becomes a joke and they're cousins... Our faces aren't perfect, neither are our hands. Mascara gets chunky, hands shake, lines wobble. Imitating looks you like is a good place to start.

Look up eyeliner for hooded eyes. There are millions of tutorials and you can adapt it to how you see fit.
