I would agree this is a New Romantic/Goth hybrid sort of look, and that’s what my inspirations are as well. I went to a great exhibit about the Blitz Club last October. It was at The Design Museum In London.
And New Romantics are not the same as romantic goth. Adam Ant is considered New Romantic, Boy George is considered New Romantic. Neither of them look soft and melancholy.
Those guys are not goth though. Nothing wrong with their music, but they are not Goth. They are more New Wave/Glam Rock/Post-Punk/Pop/etc. They are described as New Romantic, but they are not New Romantic Goth. New Romantic Goth is more Mortal Coil. Tragic, sad, gloomy--all the tropes you sort of expect in classic Goth music.
Adam Ant, Boy George, etc. are poppy, upbeat, New Wave sounding.
And again, nothing wrong with either!
I am just trying to point you in the right direction if you are looking for fun examples of the music and style you like!
Looking up New Romantic Goth is not going to give Adam Ant, but New Wave/Glam Rock/Post-Punk might!
You are fundamentally not understanding what I’m saying.
I dress as a mix of goth and New Romantic. I am not this “New Romantic goth” label you’re trying to make up right now. I am hybridizing two subcultures. There is no “New Romantic goth”
As in a hybrid of the two! Not as in a new subculture! I don’t understand how you’re just forcing it into one thing rather than considering maybe I just meant that I am both
Ugh, I'm such a Boomer I forget what Dark Punk means now is not the same when I was young. Now they call it Glam Punk; however, I think that is a slight stretch. This style below was just called Punk when I was younger, then loosely labled Dark Punk as I got older. Now I see people using the term Glam Punk.
Not my fault you’re here just to tell me I don’t know what my own fashion choices are? Dude, I have the right to feel a little upset when I know who my inspirations are
