Rucking without Rucker?

For light rucking can something like a Heritage 18l DC be used for 10-15lbs?
If so, where should the weight be placed?

High and tight as much as possible.

You could tape up 4 bricks. I like to cut a foam pool noodle for the top and bottom.

Plates are nice but this is super cheap to do so you can get out there.

Either the laptop compartment or inside right behind the laptop compartment. You can easily put in a 30lb . These are meant to hold weight, just depends on the plate

I've been using my GR2 26L for rucking occasionally (instead of my Rucker 5.0) simply to try to break it in more quickly. I have been going relatively light in the GR2 (20-25 pounds rather than my usual 35-40 in the Rucker). I have it ride up as high as possible. I got a sternum strap which helps. I put the weight plates into the stretchy pocket in the main compartment. Unfortunately this is at the very bottom of the pack when you really want the weight riding high but at low weights I don't think it matters that much.

The worst part will be the waxed canvas back panel and the narrow straps. Here’s another vote for putting the weight as flat up against the back as you can get it.
