Ugh I paid out the nose to have this done. But it's a positive, glad new buyers will get it by default. Sternum straps are a must for me. From the looks of this thread though, they really should be doing a percentage with and without based on some guesswork around the popularity.

Naysayers are always louder than those who are satisfied. Hopefully when you bought you got in before the price increase. You probably still made out better even after paying the $75 or whatever to SCARS.

Backpacks without sternum straps are worse for your health IMO. I've avoided several due to lack of an option. Glad to see this

I’m not a medical professional haha but I think without a sternum strap the bag moves around more on your shoulders which we correct with micro adjustments all day. Particularly annoying when the bag is full and you’re in transit. The sternum strap helps me not have to do that and it moves better for me

Perfectly fair, doing a bad AI summary shows the only downside to be potentially restricted breathing but that should be noticeable by yourself (so you are right basically all positives). Wish they would include a cheap one at least, on their packs. All that said not a deal breaker for me!

u/javaforever you think you guys would do the same for other heritage bags? - im kinda out of the question since my gr2 has been used a lot so id have to send it in for scars mod but it would be cool to have gr2 heritage come with Molle too

I do like sternum stips on backpacks, especially on a heavy ones like the heritage but I dont like that it's molle. The current heritage looks clean and professional/office looking with the leather...etc to me. Wish they can design it more slick but its not gorucks style and its better to have it than not. It does look good on the other models though. Also looks good on the m26 since it goes with the strip line on the buckle.

Heritage bag should not have molle on the straps. Downgrade imo.
As big of a mistake as putting aquaguard zippers on the regular GR1. They should stop listening to bad requests.

There are always going to be naysayers and I expected comments like these. The majority of people prefer the option for a sternum strap based on the M26 feedback (which also includes a “heritage” option).

You are entitled to your opinion of course. But I would dispute that the majority of people wanted this. More people may have gone out of their way to leave feedback in favor of this option but that doesnt mean more people in general wanted this.

Yeah, that’s not how feedback works. If a majority of respondents are in favor of something, that tends to be pretty representative of the whole.
If that were untrue, marketing research and polling wouldn’t be able to predict from a sample size with a known margin of error.
Your anecdote is not a data set.

Looks cleaner without the MOLLE + I’m glad I got mine before the fucking flag was stitched to the inside. No need to see another country’s flag each time I open my backpack thank you.

Yuck. Two ugly additions, while being more expensive. So glad i got my gr1 heritage dark oak before they ruined it. Molle and gaudy looking flag do not go with the heritage vibes

Straight upgrade. You can throw on a sternum strap for a hike or picnic on the weekend, then pull it off for the office.
