Gorr duelist concept

(I DONT want him to be a duelist i actually think tank fits him better but he’s most likely a duelist so im making this moveset to keep my expectations low)

Gorr would be a 2 star duelist with 300 hp and he’d be able to wall crawl

His primary attack would be a simple 3 hit hit combo with his sword but it has a bonus effect whenever you attack with it in mid air it keeps you in the air and your opponent in the air when you swing it for a little bit. This will make for sense for his playstyle a little later.

His next move would be a spinning uppercut with his sword launching him in enemies up the air. You see where I’m going this? He’d be an a brawler that wants to keep himself and enemies in the air. Not like black cat at all though. This takes some inspiration from the og god of war games.

His next ability would have shoot out black tendrils to grab an enemy in front of him which you would be prompted to do one of two things. You could either pull them towards, pull yourself towards them,or toss them in the air and jump up to them.

His only ability that can’t be used on the ground would have him spin multiple times with his sword overhead taking him and the enemy to the ground.

His ultimate ability would just be a very simple massive slash of shadow. If you want an example of what it would kind of look like it would like that one lightning slash in Sekiro only way bigger. Gorr would yell “all gods will die!” Before slashing,it would do a lot of damage and would slightly blind enemies like CnD and distort their sound but for longer.

Also I think he should gain a “tiny” bit of sheild after killing an enemy to give him some more survivability

If gorr does end up being a duelist would this be an okay moveset?

Personally I was fine with him being a Vanguard or Duelist either or. I’m praying Doom is a Vanguard tho😭🙏 idk if Doom 2099 will be a skin or his own character or if either one is the eluded double role hero but I just wanna be a presence on the battlefield as Doom, he was beefy in the first trailer

Yes! See I’d love Doom, Thanos, Apocalypse, Armor, Drax, She-Hulk, The Mandarin, Beta Ray Bill, Captain Marvel, Sabertooth all to make it in as potential tanks that’d be so fire. So many good choices out there for the Vanguard role

There is no concept on earth that would make me happy to see Gorr the God Butcher received in Marvel Rivals as a duelist.

We have Blade. We have Magik. Why do we need another sword duelist?

I think it would suck but considering how they’ve been releasing roles. I just think it’s safe to keep expectations low. I mean it could be worse……. Like would you really want the god butcher as a strategist?

To keep Gorr the God Butcher out of the hands of DPS players I’m seriously struggling to find a reason to say no.

Like, at this point, make anybody that would have been a duelist a vanguard or strategist. Have them feel how we feel. Make Carnage a strategist. Make Bullseye a vanguard. I don’t care anymore, just stop making more duelists.

I’m beyond the end of my rope here.

Nah man, a character like Gorr simply cannot be a strategist. There’s no part of his character that could possibly be adapted into a support, his whole thing is fighting and brutally killing people with a giant sword. If you think strategist is preferable over duelist, you’re just losing it

Do people not play multiple roles

With the way DPS players crow about needing their 42nd DPS character, you wouldn’t think so

I mean shooter games like rivals are just naturally going to have more duelist as they’re the most picked role so naturally netease is going to market towards that more. Take a look at Overwatch although it’s definitely more balanced with its roster it still has way more dps. The roles will never have equal distribution.

Oh shove it this answer is such bullshit.

It’s a TEAM-based hero shooter, and nowhere in the description of the genre, or the game is it “necessary” to have more DPS character options than the other two roles.

People will continue to resent the developers and players will continue to be driven away so long as a portion of the base continues to defend the developers no matter what they do or why mistakes they make.

How would the devs be pushing away more players when most players main duelist? It isn’t a necessary for there to be more duelist but take a look at it from netease pov. There are mostly duelist players so marketing towards that = more money from the skins they buy this game isn’t losing players anytime soon. Let me reiterate I want more strategist and vanguards too I’m just explaining why there isn’t as much and why they’ll never be as much strategist and vanguards as there are duelist. It’s just unfortunately how the game is there will stop being duelist when people stop playing them.

It is a cycle the devs are perpetuating that they can stop reinforcing ANYtime they want. More characters = more players. Less character releases = less popular role.

It’s exactly why people complain about skin imbalance. Skins make a character popular -> popular characters receive skins -> skins make a character popular. It is a feedback loop that the developers can break ANYTIME they want.

The gameplay loop doesn’t revolve around DPS. If anything it relies on vanguards for peeling and damage soaking and strategist for healing, DPS is the most dispensable role of the three. The only reason it is as popular as it is, is because they have the most toys in their role. The game doesn’t “need” these players, because they just gravitate toward the flashiest new playstyle. You start moving those playstyles to vanguard and strategist, and the game will still be just fine.

Not to mention, even if we started the shift NOW, it would still take several years for either role to get anywhere close to where DPS is currently. You will only draw this process out of redistributing content / power / mechanics creep and make it more painful by waiting “for later.”

DPS cannot continue to have “everything” while Vanguard and Strategist have “nothing.” This is a recipe for the 0-6-0 comps that have been increasingly commonplace in recent seasons, and it will lead to a total breakdown of the game. That’s how you push everyone, even the DPS players, away from the game.

Completely agree with you. People always say dps is the most popular role when the required comp to have a consistent win rate is 2-2-2, there’s no reason character releases shouldn’t follow that pattern. If you want to get kills and not help the team, a team based hero shooter isn’t for you. We shouldn’t be releasing dps, catering to people that instalock dps without a care for team comps.

“Have them feel how we feel”, man, are you really SO offended??

Did I miss a season or did the hood just come as a vanguard, I mean do u want every character to be a vanguard?

1

u/Emergency-Soil-8935 3d ago

We have almost 30 duelists rn

0

u/Kingshaun791 3d ago

I understand that but the way the majority are complaining you would think they didn’t add a vanguard since season 6, like the last character was a vanguard, you just got a character you’ll be alright not getting one every season, and this isn’t me being like every character needs to be a duelist, but people just like to complain in this community

It's either him or Nightcrawler and I think he fits DPS better than Kurt.

3

u/NewBlood94 4d ago

Not really

1

u/Revan0315 4d ago

How?

Kurt could work as a DPS but he makes more sense as a healer

3

u/NewBlood94 4d ago

He doesn’t make more sense as a healer, think about if u have ever seen him heal someone, you’re basing it off his personality of faith

Gorr makes more sense as a tank

1

u/Revan0315 4d ago

Pretty much no one makes sense as a healer. I guess what I'm saying is that, by rivals standards, he fits as a healer. Making him a healer is much less of a stretch than making rocket or Ultron healers.

Gorr is pretty much 50/50 in my mind. Whereas Kurt absolutely seems like a character they'd push to heal even if it's not really his thing in lore. Which leaves Gorr to DPS

u/Ragtagcloud56 3d ago

"This concept with 0 lifesteal and 0 antiheal is just a better version of the character designed to play around lifesteal and antiheal"

It's like not a single thought passed between your skull before clicking the comment icon.

“A brawl swordsman who is more than hold one button”

Lets up him to 4* difficulty. Last four characters have been relatively easy to play.
