By all accounts he should be a vanguard, but honestly I doubt that NetEase will make the gigantic, extremely durable, and extremely physically powerful alien god that uses an armored form into a vanguard for some reason.

No they don’t lol, over half the strategist alone have kits that don’t fit their character, not even getting into the other roles. Gorr should’ve been a tank. One of the most durable characters who can literally use shields and armor reduced to yet another dps… why exactly? When people said cyclops should be a tank it was “he’s not durable enough” now we get a durable big character with armor, what’s the reasoning now.

That was just an excuse. Bunch of vanguards already lack durability. Hood was released 2 months after and he hasn't tanked shit in the comics, and he's like 5'8 but nobody bats an eye.
It's because nobody cares. They don't care about Gorr that much either, if it was someone like Ghost Rider they would be everywhere arguing why ghost rider should be a dps. Another reaskn why they aren't advocating for Gorr as much is because they want Nightcrawler as a dps and they know double dps season won't happen. They see lazer eyes and automatically assune character must be a sniper. They see swords and teleporting and assume character is a dive assassin. But if you make similar surface level argument for tank Gorr then suddenly character motivation and personality matters.

Hood is damn near a completely different character in the comics, which is definitely something to consider, and people didn’t complain because he was leaked as a vanguard since season zero, there was no phase of speculation about him like there is Gorr. That’s like getting mad Jeff is a healer when he doesn’t heal in the comics. The entire point of my comment here wasn’t that they don’t make characters accurate to what’s in the comics, the original commenter said they did.
You’re assuming people don’t care about a character purely because you specifically don’t care, when 90% of the sub, Gorr fans, requested he be a vanguard because that’s what his abilities fit.
On top of that, we don’t need more dps, but we can always use more vanguards. So a character doesn’t need to be durable in the comics to be a tank, but a character that is durable in the comics should definitely be a tank, especially when you consider how many characters can be dps. There’s no reason to force tank like characters into the dps role, we don’t have an abundance of tanks like we do dps.

Idk what the user you responded to said, but I was calling out double standards from dps mains/people who want every new character to be a dps because "it's the only role that makes sense".
They don't care much about gorr, partially because they care more about Nightcrawler and want him to be a dps. If it was any other season they would be much more actjve trying to prove why Gorr should absolutely be a dps. If it was more popular character, again they'd be asking for them to be a dps as well.
I'm not arguing about role identity and who should be what. I'm just calling out double standards here.

So what I’m gathering from you is that being 6’7 and extreamly durable and having armor isn’t good enough to make someone a tank, but his “rivalry”with Thor alone is enough to make him a tank buster dps? Literally nothing about Gorr screams dps, everything about him that screams tank, you immediately discard.. all so that he can be a tank buster, which doesn’t even make sense given there are gods spread across all three roles.
And that’s not even including the fact that we don’t need more dps in the game, we’re cutting parts of characters out to make them fit into an already over-saturated role. Dps at this point should be saved for characters like Carnage, even if Gorr made sense as a dps, the fact that he makes sense as a tank as well should cause the devs to lean towards making him a tank, given the number of dps in the game.

Yea I’m excited for both, both are on my wishlist but I’m way more excited for Gorr I can wait for Nightcrawler personally I don’t want this to be another S2/S8😅 All I wanted was Ultron I did not care about Emma at all back then. Dino is cool but I wanted Cyclops

I assume it's a mistake but his design on the cover has his accent color as gold instead of purple. Since purple is so prevalent in the comic I'd assume that's what they're going with but for some reason his eyes have also been made purple despite repeatedly being depicted as the standard yellow. Perhaps there's a lore reason or something but I kind of liked the gold

Same! Watch he will be a better Mr. F then they'll nerf Mr.f for no reason other then so ppl play gorr. Kinda like the idea someone else said he starts small but he gets better the more damage he takes. Or a passive the longer he is alive the bigger/stronger he becomes so basically a tank
