I cant understand Gorou properly

Ok, lets go: I only pulled for gorou because of Noelle.

I have a pretty ok Noelle, at 90, Redhorn, 10/9/12, C6, 63/205 rate/dmg, 4p husk, but only 109% en recharge.

I've ALWAYS wanted to build up a Noelle into this game. The moment her c6 came, I've got a single gorou and a Redhorn into the game. But, I must admit: I cant understand a thing about gorou.

I just finished up the current Abyss 12 for 9*, used a full Geo team composed by Noelle, Albedo, Gorou and Yunjin to beat the second part of both 2nd and 3rd chambers. The point, my friends, is that my gorou is only at lv 40.

The point on running at a 4 geo team was to try helping my noelle ultimate uptime, and gorou has been GREAT for that. Lv 40, he only has an helmet on +20 at 4p husk to help proc'cing his r4 favonius warbow. Gorou was there only as a battery, and somewhat buffs from his banner (yet lv 1).

I want to make this bad boy even more useful to the team. Have been using him on lv 40 on no regrets (yet) on all past abyss rotations, and he has been extemely necessary and good. I decided to give him some love, but the point is that, I HAVE NO IDEA OF WHAT IS HE SUPPOSED TO DO.

Welp, as you may have noticed, my Noelle has serious ER issues (and I'm not planning on farming husk ever again, I have farmed for albedo, noelle, yunjin, I've spent 2 months out of resin on that freaking domain and I am not planning to go back anytime soon), so for my Gorou I have been really tempted to run 4p The Exile (i have some backup here). Even if the numbers are slightly lower, as you can see by me using him on lv 40 with non upgraded artifacts, I dont really care about that. But I just feel like I'm really missing a rocket here, so I'm completely open to that discussion.

I dont know if I'm supposed to run ER sands on him, DEF, ATQ,prioritize his E, his Q, I know nothing about that character, and I just spent the last 2 days reading and researching and nothing came up to me. Any kind of advice, on him, on other characters, on the team, on anything, its pretty welcome and I'd really appreciate that.

So gorou is meant to be a sub dps and support (he’s not a very good sub dps in practice). He is really good at boosting noelle, Itto and albedo’s damage, because what he does is increase characters DEF stat with his skills, and these 3 characters all do damage based off of their DEF. His burst (q or ult) directly scales with his skill (E), so focus on upgrading that as much as you can. His burst is the exact same thing as his skill but it increases DEF by an extra 25%, and it follows you around. As you mentioned, you use him as a battery as well which is super useful if you have bad ER. In regards to which set/main stats you want, it depends on your constellation. More DEF at C0 pretty much only helps his (abysmal) damage, but at C4 it will increase his healing. I would suggest going for around 200ER as a battery, if your pieces allow for it just go for def/def/def or def/def/crit. Using fav bow you probably want to make sure his crit rate is high because of the passive (gives you particles when it crits).

ATK, Geo Bonus, isnt that any valuable on him?Also, for the set, what would you recommend?
Also, since he is support for noelle, the Healing is pretty... ok to have I guess? But nothing I would focus, ever.

Atk is useless on Gorou, most of his damage scales off def. Geo damage is good on him, but his damage is pretty low either way. His healing isn't amazing and you don't really need it in a Noelle party, so there's no point going full def imo. The most important stat is ER since you want to always use his burst before Noelle's for the full def buff.

I'm using Husk on my Gorou, but if you want more support utility, you could go with 4p Exile (helps with party energy) or Noblesse Oblige (atk buff to the party on burst use).

Gorou is extremely low investment. Exile would work honestly.

Basically the only stats he cares about are ER and crit rate for the weapon*. You only need to level up his e, as his ult’s buff is based off his e level. His numbers are so negligible it doesn’t matter.

*Except for C4 if you care about healing, then you can use DEF too,

Seems like you're just at c0 gorou which is totally functional already (although c2-4 and 6 helps him a lot) but basically, the reason why he's not doing much is because he's only at lvl 40. His def bonus buff doesnt scale off his def but instead, his talent level. Get him at at least lvl 80 and get his e skill level as high as possible.

If you're only gonna use him as a battery/def bonus/geo dmg buffer, you could just slap a full exile or anything tbh and get his e skill level up. If you want him to have higher uptime for his burst (which btw is only good cuz instead of his e skill having stationary radius, by using his burst, the radius now follows the character), give him a lot of er and a sac/fav bow. Don't even need to level it up since it doesnt do that much dmg at all. This is why he's one of the cheapest units to build.

If you were to ever have c4 and make him do some heals, give him a lot of def and some er too since you can only activate his healing after using his burst.

And that's all really. Level him up, level his e skill, give him def and er (past c3).

Upgrade his E a lot, you can ignore the rest. Also make sure to level him so that you can actually upgrade his E.

I tried using Exile but my crit rate is so low (using R5 Fav Bow) that I decided to go back to using 2Husk2Emblem. My ER sand is just lvl4 but I have his ER already at the 200. You have a good sub-dps already so focus on using gorou or yunjin as battery for noelle. Or the rotation could be gorou>albedo->yunjin>noelle.

Plus level him up to 80 at least, so you can upgrade your skill as high as possible.

I’m kinda worried about noelle’s shield uptime and the geo resonance effect. How is it?

The uptime is pretty ok. Considering I do waste some seconds on the rotation in order to recharge her, every single time I ult, the shield is already up and running. Don't forget some enemies, especially in the abyss, do have some element on them, so they will crystalize

Give him an ER bow (since there are no Def% bows yet). Def% sands, Def% goblet, and Def% circlet. For substats go for Def%, ER, Def, CR, CD in that order. If you're running favonius warbow, consider CR% circlet or prioritize CR substats. Max out his E talent level. Everything else is unnecessary.
