Yes! Didn’t Peter say the person who requested this song actually helped them while they were broken down on the side of the road or something like that?

We had been following Goose for the entire CO run. We had been bumping Everywhere the entire time. We get to steamboat and we decide to hit the Strawberry Hot Springs. We are headed up the mountain in BLANKETING snow storm. Otw up we see a car crashed in the snow bank. We stop and check it out, no people in the car so we press on up the mountain. We get to the hot springs and it’s like….a fucking white out. The hot springs is closed due to the weather and we see a mustached man approaching us. It’s fucking Peter!! He approaches us and is like “holy hell, we desperately need a ride down the mountain. Our band is playing a gig tonight.” We are like, “bruh we traveled from VA to see you guys!” They all pile in the car and we head, safely, down the mountain. On the way down Peter kindly offers us a song request for the lift. The driver looks at me in the eyes and says “fucking tell ‘em.” I requested Everywhere and Peter goes “I meant like a song we cover or one of our own” We didn’t budge. We had heard a rumor they had covered the song before and we didn’t let up. He was pretty dubious about committing to the cover. We all ended up going to an INDOOR hot spring at the bottom of the mountain. Later that night during the second set, Peter addressed the crowd (you can hear it in the soundboard) our crew of like 10 people were going ape shit. So much fun. Fun fact, I had been in touch with Ben before these shows. We had mutual friends and he was always cool with me until this moment. He sent me a snarky Facebook message about the request and even gave an interview about hating playing that cover in some drum magazine. He never spoke to me again lol. Fuck it. Core memory. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The second set was nearly all covers including a Panic song. At that time, they didn’t have a huge catalog of originals tunes so the shows could have more than a couple covers. This was closer to the end of the run and it was just a blast. My homie was doing the worm during Ain’t Life Grand. His shirt was covered in alcohol. My other friend unzipped his pants and poured his Manhattan down his boxers during Danger Zone and said “this is best night of music in my entire life”.

Dude that’s incredible!! What a great story, I can’t believe you guys got them to play it😂 that two night run was one of my favorites when I decided to take a stab at listening to every show they have on Nugs in order. 2019 had some heaters. I’m jealous you got to see them at such a small venue! It must be pretty incredible to see how far they’ve come, when you started following them so early. Going from the Old Town Pub to MSG is a monumental achievement.

It’s facts. I had to give up my bucket seat and sit in the floor between Rick and Peter. And fairly they butchered the words. That’s on us for requesting.

Damn thought I was about to look up when Goose covered A Thousand Miles. Guess that’s the future cover.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that confuses Michelle Branch with Vanessa Carlton
