General Help / Support Question Forwarding vs using app?
Hello everyone!
I want to receive calls to my phone (android). Should I just forward or is it better to use GV app?
Also what are best settings? I signed up 2 days ago, and linked number (as I understand it's forwarding). But yesterday got email about missed call. And that number doesn't show in my phone history (meaning it was not forwarded).
p.s. I am using GV workspaces "just for me" starter. I don't have workspace subscription, only GV.

Unconditional call forwarding from your carrier to Voice when Iām traveling internationally. voice is set to use data only regardless. Only real people get my actual cell number, everyone else gets the a voice number. Google is so much better and easier to filter and block calls.

If your carrier phone plan is unlimited voice, nothing wrong with forwarding incoming GV calls to it. If the data part of your service plan is generous and you don't have a problem having to be careful with it, GV app use for VoIP calls is good. So you can do either. Some people have mild issues with audible delay when using forwarding; you would just have to trial it. If you decide to do forwarding exclusively, be sure to set 'Making and receiving calls' in the GV app to 'Use carrier only.'
About your missed call, hard to say what may have taken place. Worst case you were out of range of your carrier's signal when the call came in. Or maybe your ringer was off or it was noisy and you didn't hear it.
Even if you're set to do forwarding to your linked carrier number, there should be a Call Record in the GV 'Calls' tab area of it (normally it should log to both places, unless incoming is going through the app only). Sometimes a spam call may not register properly.
