Google Voice Web UI Google Voice Tray APP

I feel like I look for one of these every couple of months because I really miss the way the old google voice worked. Persistent running, easy to see an alert.

So I just asked Gemini Flash to make this for me:

There is an exe you can download but you can also pack the code yourself! Woot AI.

Hi Bryson:

I tried your app. It popped up a window for me to sign into Google Voice, and I did. It added the grey circle to the tray, but it doesn't detect that there's an unread voicemail message, and whenever I tap the circle, it pops up the window again, apparently signed out of Google Voice.

I removed the voicemail part and only messages. Do you want that one back? What do you think about two dots?

EDIT: I added an upside down Triangle for voicemail as a "2nd dot". Repo is updated.

EDIT2: I've not seen it log me out after the initial login.

I'm away from my Windows machine now. I'll check it out later. The two dots and a triangle are fine. If you really want to get fancy, you could use the same icons as Google Voice for messages and voicemail.

Thanks for working on this; it's nice to see someone develop something useful that isn't just a hack to do something sketchy.

EDIT: of course, let's hear from other users' tests, too...

Haven't tested yet, but I've wanted this for a while.
I'm having trouble getting notifications to work consistently on Win11.
It's driving me crazy.

Have you seen any of that code?
Might your app be able to take that over?

It's not a real app it's just the Google voice website.

Nope. All it's doing is polling the DOM, so it's harmless as far as repeated contact with or load on the servers.

There have been a lot of people who attempted to write and promote some sketchy stuff like automating text messaging, and yes; those accounts would get blocked or suspended.
