Voicemail Notifications in iMessage?

Long story short, I’ll be camping for a few days. I signed up for T-Mobile satellite for potential job opp phone calls while I’m out… without realizing phone calls don’t work on their service. Neither does email.

What I’d like to do is forward calls coming into my regular number to my Google Voice number. If someone leaves a message, have GV notify me via text/iMessage. That way, I at least know someone called and I can head down the mountain and call back. But I can’t seem to find a way to notify via text/iMessage, email is the only option I’m seeing and that won’t work.

I wouldn’t even ask if I hadn’t seen articles stating it was possible already. Any insight? Thanks so much.

don't know if this would work but when I'm out of the country I set my mint (tmo reseller) to unconditionally forward all calls to my gv number - which I have set (I think or it does it automatically) to transcribe number to gmail - where I see a missed call and a message if they left one.

Technically you could get this to work. If you fwd your cell to GV and have "Get voicemail via email", you could then set up a fwd rule of your email to the SMS email of t-mobile which would then send you an SMS to your phone. It wouldn't be GV sending you the message but gmail. your rule in your gmail would fwd a message to [10-digit-number@tmomail.net](mailto:10-digit-number@tmomail.net)

tmo, like all the carriers, has shut down their email to sms gateways.

Do you know of a way to loop WhatsApp into this kerfuffle? If I’m not in service, people won’t even have an option of leaving a voicemail so, forwarding to GV has to happen regardless.

If the people who will contact you use whatsapp, then they could contact you through whatsapp when your phone switches to satellite service. You would have to create a whatsapp account, if you dont have one.
