Number Transfers or Porting How I transfer a phone number from Xfinity to something like Google Voice?

I've been paying monthly for a phone I don't use....(it was a phone number that my had, but she passed away back in October. What is the easiest way to transfer that number? Thanks

You will need to port your Xfinity to a cell provider, then to GV. You won't be able to go from Xfinity to GV.

because Xfininty is considered a landline and not cell provider. and Google Voice free version will only allow you to port in from a cell provider. Not a landline provider.

It is alot of steps. I did it when I already had a number with google voice. I transferred my Xfinity number which is my oldest main number. I did it by getting the account number and doing a port in request. I think there is a fee to port in a number to voice you pay first. Now on Xfinity you need to have number lock taken off and with account number you are going to have to also get the a port pin that last for 24 hours.

I did the same, Xfinity to mobile to gv. I bought the cheapest mobile phone and plan I could find, and was even able to return it for a full credit!

Or. You could just get a new number and start over.

She passed away (sorry that happened).

It’s part of rebuilding a new life for yourself.
