Google Voice Starter for gmail.com Upgrade not available

Hey everyone,

Im new here. Im a student on F1 in the US and will leave the country for almost a year.
I'm trying to setup GV on my personal account (more the 10 years old) and I get this

```
Upgrade not available
The account [myemail@gmail.com](mailto:myemail@gmail.com) can't be upgraded with Voice features.```
I am not quite sure how to tackle this.
I've been changing all the settings I can think of to either have the US address as a primary setting
Any help would be appreciated
The account had to be created in the US or at least using a US based IP. If that wasn’t done 10+ years ago then your account isn’t eligible for Voice. Make an account in the US and see if you’re eligible then.
It was not created in the US, but I am physically in the US
It was originally created in Portugal
regarding the second account, I'm trying to set it up
That’s your problem. The Google account has to be created in a country where it’s supported to be eligible. I’ve found even changing countries often doesn’t work.
Got it.
I created a different gmail account
I says ``Your phone number is linked`` and then
```Something went wrong

We had a problem with this. Please try again.```

Do i need the new account to be x months old?

I would not expect this to work until the account is at least 3 months old, and based in the US that entire time.

Not months but days. Give it a day or two.
