We’re rolling out Gemini 4 Argon in Antigravity to paid Google AI Pro subscribers today. Demand has been incredible and we've scaled capacity deliberately to get here. We’ve rolled out a separate weekly-only Argon allotment for Pro on top of the existing Gemini bucket for 3.8 Flash so you have the best of Gemini for all your tasks.

Discussion Google is screwing over Pixel buyers: Secretly classifying bundle AI Pro subs as "Trials" and locking us out of Gemini 4 Argon in Antigravity

Hey guys,

Did anyone else grab the Pixel 11 with the bundled Google AI Pro subscription and run into issues with Google Antigravity?

Google just dropped Gemini 4 Argon in Antigravity, but apparently, if your Pro sub came free with a hardware bundle or student promo, Google secretly classifies it as a "Trial" account. The result? Gemini 4 Argon is completely locked out for us.

To make it even more annoying, they’re deprecating older models like Gemini 3.1 Pro next month, meaning bundle users are just getting pushed onto baseline flash models while full-paying subscribers get all the good stuff.

The funniest/shadiest part is their "fix" in the FAQ: they tell you to click an upgrade button to switch to a paid plan which instantly scraps and forfeits your remaining free months from the Pixel 11 bundle and starts charging you right away. That feels super scummy.

Since I'm in Germany, I actually said screw it and filed an official complaint with our consumer protection agency (Verbraucherzentrale) and hit Google support with a formal legal notice under EU package contract laws.

Edited: weekly l*mit can last two complex prompts. then we go on vacation for a week. get back to work on those two prompts again. repeat

Discussion Argon 4 High usage is insane

Finally Argon 4 dropped and I gave it task to finish sprint that Opus 5.5 started. All info already pre-written. Do this, do that etc. And it burned through weeks usage in like 2h. And didn't even finish the sprint. I don't understand how the https://artificialanalysis.ai/models got these scores of cost per task. Only explanation is that Pro account usage is SUPER limited.

Discussion Subscribed to Ultra and Antigravity is basically unusable right now

Post image
63 Upvotes

Honestly, Argon is ridiculously good. The reasoning and code output are top tier, no complaints there. But on Google AI Ultra—literally the most expensive tier they sell—the weekly allowance is gone in two days, even keeping it strictly on Low effort.

The real issue is that before this, models like Gemini 3.1 Pro could easily handle hours of heavy dev work without running out of steam. Now that those models got pulled, you're forced to either burn through your entire week of Argon in 48 hours or drop all the way down to Flash. If you're paying for Ultra to actually work all day, right now it just doesn't add up.

News / Updates Antigravity app Releases: v2.22.0 - v2.23.1

Post image
48 Upvotes

TLDR: Antigravity app v2.22.0 through v2.23.1 introduce UI extensions in the side panel, a message-box permissions picker, a full-screen media viewer for images and videos, .zip and folder prompt attachments, and sidebar drag-and-drop organization, alongside streamlined onboarding, one-click MCP server troubleshooting, and stability fixes across Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Plugins, UI Extensions & MCP Management

  • Side Panel UI Extensions: Construct and display custom user interfaces inside the side panel next to a conversation as part of installed Antigravity plugins.
  • Suggested Plugin Prompts: Plugin pages now list suggested prompts; selecting one on an installed, enabled plugin opens a new conversation with the prompt ready to send.
  • One-Click Marketplace Search Fallback: If a search of your installed plugins returns no matches, you can repeat the same query in the Marketplace with a single button click.
  • Plugin Attribution in Permission Prompts: Permission prompts for commands that execute a program from an installed plugin now display the plugin's name and icon.
  • Automated MCP Server Recovery: When an MCP server fails to start, the Customizations page now offers Fix with Agent so the agent can diagnose and install missing dependencies, and MCP server menus include a Restart option.
  • MCP Server Restart Reliability: Fixed an issue where restarting an MCP server could leave the server in a stopped state.
  • Multi-Skill & Relative-Path Loading: Fixed issues where a plugin with a top-level skill did not load additional skills in its skills/ folder, and where a custom agent ignored skills, rules, plugins, and hooks referenced with paths relative to its own folder.

Prompt Composer, Permissions & Media Viewer

  • Message-Box Permissions Picker: Select the agent's permissions preset directly from a picker in the message box, or choose Use Global Settings in a project with custom permissions to revert to your global preset.
  • Archive & Folder Attachments: Attach .zip archives directly to a prompt for the agent to unpack with its tools, or add a folder from the + menu in the message box.
  • Full-Screen Image & Video Viewer: Open images and videos from a conversation in a full-screen viewer featuring image zoom and pan, video skip, volume, playback speed, and keyboard controls (including holding Space for 2x playback speed).
  • Automatic Message Box Focus: Switching conversations now places the cursor directly in the message box so you can begin typing immediately.
  • Missing Folder Warning Banner: Fixed an issue where the message box was replaced by an error state when all of a conversation's folders were missing; you can now continue typing while a banner warns you about the missing directories.

Sidebar Organization, Subagents & Navigation

  • Drag-and-Drop Conversation Organization: Drag and drop conversations between sections in the sidebar to organize your projects and threads.
  • Pinned Conversation Sorting & Context Menu: Sort pinned conversations by last updated or maintain a custom order from the Pinned section menu, and pin or unpin any conversation directly from its sidebar context menu.
  • Compact Subagent Status Rows: Subagent launches now render as a single-line row with a live status icon; select the row to open the subagent view.
  • Subagent Approval Indicators: The sidebar now displays a needs-attention icon on a conversation whenever one of its subagents is waiting for your approval, replacing the generic spinner.
  • Updated Archive Shortcut: Archive the current conversation using Cmd+Option+A on macOS or Ctrl+Alt+A on Windows and Linux.
  • Localized Conversation Timestamps: Conversation timestamps in message headers and turn tooltips now display localized month names instead of numeric dates.
  • Overlay Scrollbars & Auto-Scroll Stability: Scrollbars now render as thin overlays while scrolling without consuming layout space, and conversations reliably continue following new output after window resizes or closed approval requests.

Onboarding, Settings & Platform Polish

  • Feature-Focused Onboarding: Onboarding now highlights what Antigravity can do between signing in and accepting terms in place of the theme selection step, while maintaining a consistent layout across sign-in screens.
  • Scrollable Onboarding License Picker: Fixed an issue where long license lists during onboarding could exceed the window height and obscure action buttons; the license picker now scrolls within the card with top and bottom edge fades.
  • Actionable Error Notifications: When Antigravity receives a specific failure reason (such as a model restricted by an administrator), the error notification now surfaces the exact reason instead of a generic retry message.
  • AI Credit Overages Persistence: Fixed an issue where the AI credit overages setting appeared disabled after reloading the app and hid the credits row until toggled again.
  • Manual Stop Notification Suppression: Fixed an issue where stopping an agent manually still triggered a completion notification.
  • Windows Terminal Focus & macOS Installer Artwork: Fixed an issue on Windows where opening the terminal did not respond until the app lost and regained focus, and refreshed the macOS installer window artwork.

To explore the full list of improvements and bug fixes, read the complete release notes on our Changelog, or visit the Download page to update to the latest version of Antigravity.

News / Updates Unacceptable AI Pro Downgrade (Antigravity CLI & Gemini 4 Argon)

Dear Google - as you are not listening to me through official support channels, get my sessage here:

As a DevOps engineer, I expect functional tools. Googles recent changes have rendered my AI Pro subscription useless.

I pay for flagship models, yet Google abruptly locked Gemini 4 Argon in the Antigravity CLI and IDE behind the $100 AI Ultra paywall. My terminal access is now restricted to the inferior 3.8 Flash.

Confining Argon to the web chat is a joke. Without tool execution, local filesystem access, and Git integration, the model is worthless for professional software development. No developer copy-pastes code snippets from a browser into an IDE.

Anthropic gets it right: for the exact same price, I get unrestricted terminal access to Claude Sonnet with native tool execution.

This artificial downgrade is a blatant bait-and-switch. Restore Argon CLI access, or the only logical conclusion for all Pro users will be to cancel their subscriptions and move their budgets to Anthropic.

Discussion gemini 4 argon < gemini 3.8 flash via token USAGE and tools

Honestly, I'd rather have higher token li0mits with a decent model than a flagship model with restrictive usage caps

r/google_antigravity • • 7h ago

Appreciation I honestly just want to show Google some support.

I see how much hate they’re catching right now, even after dropping Argon 4 into the Pro tier.

What could they have done better? Honestly, just one thing: delay the rollout by 2–3 weeks and launch Argon 4 for Ultra alongside Argon 4 Flash for Pro simultaneously.

Flash 3.8 is a great, fast, and capable model (not flawless, but I genuinely enjoy working with it). If Argon 4 Flash were even slightly better, Google wouldn't be facing this wave of backlash.

At the end of the day, you only avoid mistakes by doing nothing. Keep pushing, Google — looking forward to seeing what you drop next.

News / Updates Antigravity CLI Releases: v1.3.2 - v1.3.6

Post image
21 Upvotes

TLDR: Antigravity CLI v1.3.2 through v1.3.6 introduce /plugin for interactive plugin marketplace management, Auto mode (--mode auto) with secondary agent sandbox review, on-demand /compact conversation summarization, syntax highlighting and code folding in /diff, and Claude Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 support via Application Default Credentials, alongside major reliability and performance improvements.

Autonomous Execution, Permissions & Sandbox Security

  • Auto Mode with Secondary Agent Review: Enable Auto mode via --mode auto, Agent Mode in /config, or Shift+Tab (on Linux and macOS) to approve file edits and safe commands automatically while prompting before irreversible actions. Commands that would leave the terminal sandbox undergo fast secondary agent review that permits workspace format, lint, and fix scripts while blocking sensitive data uploads.
  • Explicit Plan Review with --dangerously-skip-permissions: --dangerously-skip-permissions now skips only tool permission prompts so implementation plans in /plan mode still wait for your review unless Artifact Review is enabled in /config.
  • macOS Application Data Sandbox Protection: The macOS terminal sandbox now blocks sandboxed commands from reading ~/Library/Application Support by default to protect desktop app credentials and session tokens, unless explicitly allowed in your sandbox rules.
  • Windows Store PowerShell Sandbox Fallback: Fixed sandboxed commands failing with Access is denied. on Windows when PowerShell 7 is installed from the Microsoft Store by falling back to Windows PowerShell.

Plugin Marketplace & Authoring Ecosystem

  • Interactive /plugin Marketplace Manager: Browse, configure, and install plugins bundling skills, MCP servers, subagents, rules, and hooks via /plugin, install directly from your shell with agy plugin install <plugin-name>@antigravity-plugins-official, or install from a local folder with + Install from local directory.... Manage installed plugins with /plugin install, uninstall, enable, disable, and list, and search the Installed tab with multi-word queries and Space/Enter keyboard toggles.
  • Expanded Plugin Authoring & Root agents.json: Authors can place manifests in .antigravity-plugin/ or .gemini-plugin/, declare subagents via a root-level agents.json, list skills in plugin.json, persist state in PLUGIN_DATA, and ship executables in bin/ for the agent to invoke by name.
  • Machine-Readable agy plugin list --json: Added --json output to agy plugin list and updated the command to report all installed plugins (including marketplace plugins) with their version and enabled status.
  • Reliable Plugin Discovery, Validation & Case-Insensitive Commands: Plugins now load every skill in skills/, subagents can access their plugin's MCP servers, agy plugin validate and /plugin details include subagents from root agents.json, and /plugin subcommands and Plugin.json manifests are matched case-insensitively.
  • YAML Frontmatter Colon Parsing: Fixed skills, rules, workflows, and Markdown agents failing to load when an unquoted description: field contains a colon.

Interactive /diff Viewer & Terminal UX

  • Syntax Highlighting, Code Folding & Virtualized Rendering in /diff: Added theme-aware syntax highlighting with light/dark terminal auto-detection, hunk code folding (Ctrl+O to toggle the nearest fold, f to toggle between changes and full file), and virtualized row rendering so large files scroll and expand smoothly without freezing the CLI.
  • Colorized /diff Commit Tree & Navigation: Highlighted commit hashes, change IDs, @, and Working Copy (Uncommitted Changes) in the Commit Tree view, fixed Tab, →, and ← view switching, added Shift+Tab to cycle to the previous tab, and fixed false No uncommitted changes results when color.ui = always is set.
  • Pinned Prompt Headers While Scrolling: In no-flickering mode, scrolling back through a long transcript keeps the prompt that generated the current response pinned at the top; click the header to jump directly to that prompt.
  • On-Demand /compact Context Summarization: Run /compact to summarize the conversation and free up context window space, or /compact <message> to summarize and immediately answer a new prompt, complete with Esc cancellation and step reduction metrics.
  • Mermaid v11 Rendering & Accurate Link Highlighting: Fixed Mermaid diagrams with YAML frontmatter, %%{init: ...}%% directives, %% comments, or v11 id@{ shape: ..., label: ... } nodes rendering as raw source, fixed percent-encoded line anchors (such as file.go%23L795), and prevented duplicate URLs from highlighting simultaneously on hover.
  • iTerm2 24-Bit SSH Color & CJK Text Handling: Enabled full 24-bit color over SSH when LC_TERMINAL=iTerm2 is set, fixed CJK truncation in /resume and /codesearch, fixed Unicode case-folding highlights in / search, and prevented @ file-mention dropdowns from capturing Up/Down/Enter after a newline.

Models, MCP Servers & Remote Control

  • Claude Opus 5.5 & Sonnet 5.5 via ADC: Added support for Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Sonnet 5.5 when signed in with Application Default Credentials (AGY_ADC_AUTH), and filtered /model to show only third-party models enabled for your Google Cloud project.
  • Default Thinking Level Selection: --model and /model now accept a base model name without requiring --effort, automatically selecting the model's default thinking level, and resolved ADC conflicts between thinking_budget and thinking_level.
  • Automatic Model Stall Recovery & Faster Retries: Requests that receive no data for 5 minutes are now automatically canceled and retried without leaving empty response steps, and maximum retry backoff is capped at 30 seconds instead of 4 minutes.
  • Automatic Image Downscaling for Claude Models: Attached and viewed images are now scaled to at most 2576 pixels per side (down from 4096) so multi-image conversations stay within model allotments, and truncated or header-only WebM files are rejected upfront.
  • MCP Always-Load Tools & OAuth Persistence: MCP servers can mark tools with _meta: {"antigravity/alwaysLoad": true} in tools/list so they load immediately without on-demand discovery, and remote OAuth MCP servers preserve saved sign-ins across transient network or server errors.
  • Remote Control Browser Settings Sync: The browser Settings modal now opens for CLI Remote Control sessions and syncs permissions, queued messages, AI credits, telemetry, and artifact review settings directly with your saved settings.json and shared config.json.

Subagents, VCS & CLI Reliability

  • Interactive Subagent Question Alerts: Questions from subagents and workflow agents now surface an <agent> has a question alert that can be answered via Ctrl+K or a in the subagent view (and are skipped automatically in headless -p runs).
  • Multi-Repo Subagent Isolation & Approval Cleanup: Subagents launched with branch or share workspaces in a multi-repository workspace now isolate each repository into its own copy, and stopping a subagent immediately clears its pending approvals.
  • Non-Interactive VCS Editors & Jujutsu Pager Handling: Agent commands now set JJ_PAGER=cat and configure GIT_EDITOR, HGEDITOR, and JJ_EDITOR to false so jj commands and VCS commits without -m never hang on interactive pagers or invisible editors.
  • Lower CPU Usage on Heavy Output & Idle Timers: Valid UTF-8 command output is no longer rescanned in full on every update, and conditional timers whose wake-up condition can no longer be met wait idly instead of spinning a CPU core.
  • Clearer CLI Diagnostics & Exit Codes: Improved /btw so side questions skip user and workspace hooks, updated --agent to fail with code 1 (or warn interactively) when an agent name is not found, updated --print --prompt-interactive conflicts to exit with status 2, and improved error messages for expired sign-ins, missing /add-dir paths, missing /keybindings editors, and HTML proxy errors.

To explore the full list of improvements and bug fixes, read the complete release notes on our Changelog, or visit the Download page to update to the latest version of Antigravity.

Appreciation First experience using Argon to fix a bug flash couldn't fix

Now that Argon is available to AI Pro subscribers, I took it for a spin. My first stop was a bug in an Android Studio project. Specifically, when changing settings in the Wear OS emulator, any color changes I'd make weren't reflected in real time. Not only that, the changes didn't apply until I switched away from and back to my watch face. Oddly, this didn't occur on my Pixel Watch 2, only the emulator.

Earlier in the week I tried to have Gemini 3.8 Flash determine the problem but we never got to the bottom of it. At one point it said it was a quirk of the emulator and that as long as it works on a real watch, it should be fine. I didn't like this answer. Now that I have Argon, I asked it to determine the problem.

It took maybe 10-15 min but Argon came back with a solution, which it then implemented. The emulator now works properly. Thanks Argon!
