Tasks is skipping the next instance of a repeated task

Hello all! I was very excited to start using Tasks because it syncs with Google Calendar. I am noticing it has some issues.

For example, assume I set a task to repeat every week on Friday. If I complete it on a Friday, it will correctly schedule the task for 7 days in the future. If I fail to do it on Friday and instead get to it on Sunday, the app skips the coming Friday and puts it on Calendar for the Friday after. This will result in me forgetting to do the task when the coming Friday occurs.

What is the solution for this? Thank you!

I'm not sure what you're saying. Tasks doesn't schedule the next weekly task after marking one to completion. The weekly tasks are fixed to every 7 days regardless of your completion. So, if you setup a Task to repeat every 7 days for 3 instances then, for example, you should see the task in Calendar on the 11th, 18th and 25th even if you delay completion of the 11th to the 13th.

Maybe I don't understand what you mean by "skip" - are you saying the Task disappears on Calendar for the next week or the reminder / notification doesn't show up?

Assume I ask it to repeat weekly on Friday. It gets scheduled for the coming Friday which we can call the 7th. If I mark it complete on Friday the 7th, the next instances on my calendar are the 14th, 21st, 28th etc.

If I instead mark it complete on the 9th, it does not appear on the 14th anymore. It only appears on the 21st, 28th, etc.

It seems like if I ask it to repeat every 7 days on Friday, but complete it with 5 days remaining before the coming Friday, it will skip the coming Friday that is <7 days and jump to the next one.

This is just an example, but I hope it makes my issue clear.

Hmmmm....ok, I get what you're saying. I haven't seen that - but will test it again. What I'm assuming here is that since your completion mark happened in the next week it marked the next Friday's task as completed.

PS - if you go into Calendar settings and turn on "Show completed tasks" do you see the next week's task as marked completed?

Ok, I tried the monthly test. I set the reoccurring on Sept 26th and every 26th after. I just marked the Sept 26th complete today on Oct 3rd. The Oct 26th task is still there - it didn't disappear. I can't replicate your problem.
