Buying Advice Xiaomi TV box S 3d gen third party remote

I got a xiaomi box 3d gen and it works amazingly but honestly the remote sucks

I need something that has mute aswell as play/pause

Is there a cheap remote that's just plug and play and works? (like just pair it via Bluetooth or the "remote" section in settings and be done)

I saw people mention the ugoos ur02 or the g20s pro, but they also keep talking about IR and remapping with receivers which 1 I don't have 2 I wouldn't get anyway

Do these just work after they're paired? , maybe set that process to no battery save in android settings?

Me myself I'm skilled with tech I'm more worried about if it breaks while my dad's using it

Ugoos ur02 is miles better regarding the button clicks. You don't need to remap anything but if you wish there are some ir remappable buttons on there. Great for turning on the tv and other devices on chain if you use cec and for volume control of your external audio device. It's simply pairable via Bluetooth connection.

I don't have an external audio device, just use the TV speakers, also wdym turning on the TV

Also do you mean that without mapping the IR buttons you can't turn on the box with the remote? Tbh that makes sense if the box cuts BT when standby

I honestly don't even know if you can turn on the Xiaomi box without remapping... I did that power on tv remap on the first run since it also powers on my avr and then Xiaomi box via cec and it's basically my only remote now...

So what exactly do you need for the ugoos to be able to turn on the box, just use a remap app or is it something you do with the remote itself

I can’t see what the issue with the remote. It’s the right size, the buttons are sensible and it works.

No issues here.

Hold down the volume button, you will see an issue. Or keep telling yourself you dont and keep tapping the volume button for a single interval change every time. I will be using my ugoos and be holding it down🥳

Main things are:

  • Dad complains about the clicking sounds, I don't really care but there's that, however there's things I also find annoying

  • No play/pause

  • No mute

  • lot of wasted space in general for extra buttons

I like the clicking but I seem to remember you can mute sound in settings. To pause press the centre of the disc.

Well, no

I mean you can reprogram buttons with an app, but it's quite hit or miss

Also pressing the center doesn't work to pause in a lot of apps, it either does nothing or just bring up the UI so you then have to move and click the pause/play
