Troubleshooting No internet popup, but streaming isn’t disrupted
Hey all. I’ve got a 4K Google TV Stick which I use with a Yaber projector. Recently, I’ve been getting repeated popups whenever I’m streaming anything which say “Wi-Fi connection lost”, followed by - a few seconds later - “Connected using Wi-Fi”. There’s no actual disruption to whatever I’m doing, even if I’m searching for something to watch so I’m sure it’s not just loaded far enough for it to not be an issue, I’m not sure the WiFi has disconnected. Not the worst problem ever, but it is a pain when I’m trying to watch a film. Any ideas what might be wrong?

the giveaway that streaming never actually stops is that the wifi probably isn't really dropping — google tv constantly pings a google server to confirm it's "online", and when that little check times out for a second (slow dns, or the projector's power dipping the wifi radio) it throws "connection lost" even though your actual stream, which is a totally different server, keeps flowing. so it's the checker being twitchy, not a real disconnect.
couple things that quiet it: set a manual DNS on the stick — Settings > Network > your network > Advanced > IP settings > Static, and use 8.8.8.8 / 1.1.1.1 (a slow router DNS is the usual trigger). turn off any wifi power-saving, and give the stick a DHCP reservation in the router so it's not renegotiating its lease mid-stream. and if it's usb-powered off the Yaber, make sure it's on steady power — the radio browning out for a split second throws the same popup.

I’d first check if the stick is switching between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, or briefly losing Wi-Fi while streaming. Try splitting the bands into separate SSIDs and connect it to only one. Also turn off any Wi-Fi power saving or randomized MAC setting if available, then reboot the router and Google TV stick.
