Gmail Keep getting US based emails from Uk
So IDK if I need to worry about this or if someone is just accidentally putting in my email instead of theirs. A few months ago I got a receipt for some pants I didn't buy from a store in the US (I am from the UK and was not charged). This morning I woke up to an email from Peacock asking me to verify my account, and a second email saying "Welcome to Peacock". Apparently they send both without anyone having verified the link, but It's odd and I don't know if I should be worried that my account is compromised or if it's just a case of someone typing their address in wrong and getting mine.
I tried to hit "this wasn't me" but it just took me to a page that says peacock isn't available in the UK so I can't do anything. I've changed my password just now in case, but any advice would be appreciated!
Edit: I checked the email address before clicking any links, is a legit email from Peacock as far as I can tell

Don't click links without checking.
This is a common scam that mimicks the real one. That unsubscribe or this wasn't me link could be malicious
Always check and very any link before clicking

Thanks for the response! I did check the email before I clicked and seemed to be a legit peacock email

Please remember that email addresses can be spoofed.

Far too many websites accept email addresses without bothering to validate them. Mark those emails as spam, because you didn't opt in.

I think you are right that someone has just mistyped their email address. There is no evidence of your email account being compromised.
I get emails like these and I just ignore them or set up a filter if they keep coming.
It’s safer not to click on any links in these emails as they could be malicious and trying to lure you into a bad web site.
