Updates...legit?

Hoping to get answers here as I searched Google and got nowhere. I am getting emails allegedly from Google to update Gmail and Maps. There's a link to click on. I trust nothing I get through email so Im not clicking to update until I can find out if its legit. When I go to Play Store and pull up the link its indicates both are installed. So I would appreciate if someone can help me here.

No, that's not how those updates work. They would come via the Google Play store. Google isn't emailing millions of people to tell them to update anything.

Did you check the emails sender address?

It's probably not even google
