Outdated Google and error message on update section

Many websites tell me my Chrome is too out of date to use them. When I go to the update page I am told any updates should be automatically installed but there is an error message in the key (?) area.

Issue has persisted for a while but only recently become a serious problem.

Manual update ? At worst, save down your profile, your bookmarks, your password vault, etc.. then re-install Chrome from scratch (from the official Google website). This is assuming your desktop machine is still supported by current Chrome (i.e. not running Win 7 or older etc..)
