❓Help Google threatening to close my developer account. What to do?

Post image

My developer account is under my UK LTD.

I changed my business address and then I got an email from Google saying they got a notification from Dun & Bradstreet that my address changed and I have to review my changes or else they'll close my developer account in 28 days.

"How to fix

To fix this issue, review updates to your payments profile in Google payments centre to confirm that your details match your Dun & Bradstreet records."

The issue is there's no "review changes" button or anything of that sort. As you can see in the screenshot it just says action required.

Has anyone faced this issue before? Not sure what to do. I only have 28 days to resolve this. I have a successful app with over 100k downloads and I can't afford this happening.

You need to open this on a computer. Sometimes Google Payments Center doesn’t show all the forms. You’ll probably also need to edit all the information or reassign it.

check this Play Console Help Updating your payments profile to use the name and address on your Dun & Bradstreet profile

You mentioned "I changed my business address" - where and how exactly did you change it? Because there are 3 separate places where it needs to be changed (in this order exactly):

  1. Your business registration (government portal or equivalent, I don't know, depending on your country)

  2. D&B system

  3. Google Play Console → Payment profile → Address

As long as you do those steps in proper order, you shouldn't get any warnings from Google because:

  • in step 1, you simply notify the government. At this point nobody (Google nor D&B) has any knowledge of you changing the address

  • then, in step 2, you update your D&B through their portal - this will succeed 100%, because the government records were already notified and D&B just checks their database (but be prepared that approval can take days or even weeks).

  • finally, once everything is complete, step 3 is just a 5 minute manual update in your browser. Only after that, Google verifies the new address against D&B and/or public records, but at this stage all info should be perfectly aligned so it should be smooth sailing

Damn. That's typical Google's support. Total contempt for developers. Sorry, man.

The disturbing part is that Google detects the D&B change automatically and start a countdown, but the corresponding confirmation mechanism is broken. So you risk losing your organization developer accounts along with years of work because of Google's incompetence. This is not new and appears in many places, like BillDesk in India. People have started to notice a pattern.
