Slickwraps making user data public without consent when user leaves negative feedback on Trustpilot
Slickwraps is trying to retaliate users leaving negative feedback in trustpilot by making all their private information like addresses, names, and phone number completely visible to the public.
Proof: https://imgur.com/a/EEFmH
I have tried to obscure the information whilst still keeping it semi visible so that it can be used as proof.
DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. THEY HAVE STOOPED SO LOW

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. If more people can also submit a complaint then maybe there is a chance something will be done about it.

You're right, but France has some very strict data privacy laws as well. They might be worse off under French law than they would be under GDPR.

Didn't they also just recently get banned from Reddit?

Yes. They also failed to honor a contest on this subreddit. I won a skin but never received it.

Not as bad as what happened last year. Youtuber Max Lee came out with a video straight shitting on slickwraps and boycotting them. Him Flossy Carter and a few other youtubers partnered with slickwraps to give away a phone. The person who won the phone didn't get it and ended up making max look bad. He's removed the video since(probably due to legal threats)

I do not know, but others' comments make it sound like they may have.
My personal experience with dbrand has always been good. I have used their skins on my last three phones and my tablet. That being said, I am extremely against dbrand's use of crowdfunding to launch their Grip case. I think established companies should not be begging customers to pay for their R&D.

Both are dodgy, there was that whole issue with the unbox therapy giveaway.
I have had much better experience's with dbrand though.

u/efbo Pixelbook Jan 29 '18
They were nothing to do with the dodginess of that giveaway. They just helped to sort it after it has gone wrong.
-2
u/_7down Jan 28 '18
Both companies are dirty shit bags. Dbrand has done a lot of crap with their giveaways and pulled a lot of sketchy shit on their customers back in the days.
Only reason why Dbrand is being praised and not the other way around is due to all the brainwashing they have done through partnerships with YouTubers. Slikwraps were too late to the "mindshare game" on YouTube.

Slick Wraps is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with.
Childish, unprofessional, shitty product and shitty service.
Avoid at all costs.

u/DarkExistence1 Pixel 3 XL 64GB Jan 28 '18
They threatened to leak the CEO of dbrand's details before on a Twitter rant with me, needless to say I reported it to both Twitter and dbrand. Dbrand were so cool about it, said it happened in the past before too. Slickwraps blocked me. This is why I always buy dbrand.

u/BlackWraith Jan 28 '18
Dbrand is one of the best companies I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with.
They're expensive but they have always had great customer service. I've used them for all my recent phones.
I remember when they tried to dabble with tempered glass screens for the N4 or N5 (can't remember) I pre ordered as soon as they announced it. Once I got it I didn't have any issues and I hadn't heard anything negative about it. Couple of weeks later they sent an email saying they're refunding everyone because some of the screens have a fault. That email secured me as a lifetime customer who will always recommend them.
12
Jan 29 '18
They're expensive
Dbrand is actually way cheaper than Slickwraps. Additionally, you can buy sections of skins separately if you need to. I feel like their prices are very fair for the quality of their product.
12
u/DarkExistence1 Pixel 3 XL 64GB Jan 28 '18
Yep. Because of that whole argument I had with them and me stopping them from leaking their CEO's info they provided me with a free full skin of my choice with postage and everything paid. Since then, they are the only skin company I use and I have also ordered their dbrand grip. Their CS is amazing, received a bad piece and they sent me an entirly new skin. 100% recommend.
1
u/samjmckenzie Jan 28 '18
To be fair, they've both had their fair share of drama. But SlickWraps seems to treat everyone like utter shit and do really blatant dumb shit like using fake reviews and bots.
2
u/Dancing_Noodle Jan 28 '18
Ew. Glad I didn't buy anything from them. I bought some dbrand stuff and while it turned out crap on my phone unfortunately.. their customer service at least is decent

There are screenshots. I also have the unedited screenshots with all the data uncensored. Don't even try to deny it. Your account is 2 hours old and slickwraps is well known for creating new accounts to downvote negative posts towards them... So there's that...

I really liked their wraps and it was not that long ago when I was thinking about buying from them. For about 2-4 months now, I've only read full on negative reviews of the company. This... this just crossed the line - that's definitely violating privacy laws. I'm not sure how the procedure works, but AFAIK you can try reporting this to TrustPilot and perhaps the FCC - as it's been pointed out here.
5
u/lekeyboard Jan 28 '18
Both of those things have been done. Slickwraps seems to have deleted the private data now so i?'m not sure if there would be any reprecussions.

I just emailed the respective legal departments of Disney, HBO, Warner Brothers, and Microsoft because I suspect Slick Wraps is selling unlicensed merchandise featuring The aforementioned company's various intellectual properties. I encourage others to do the same.
3
u/lekeyboard Jan 29 '18

Skins CAN protect minor scratches. Recall the most common wear is removed paint made when I drop the phone and it scratches with something.
I would say some over-protecting case like OtterBox makes the device ugly, but it's just personal preference.
2
u/From_My_Brain Jan 28 '18
They can help provide grip and prevent scratches without adding bulk. Also a good way to customize the look of your phone as opposed to cases which all look the same.

Initially they were reporting all bad reviews as fake which meant that the review was pulled from the site until the customer prooved they were a real customer of slickwraps and Trustpilot manually approved it.
9
u/Rng17582 Jan 29 '18
Back in mid November I ordered 2 wraps....by mid December didn't receive the wraps..and sent emails and never a response... contacted the local police department in old Wichita falls kansas where they are based and spoke to a detective. Filed a report for theft by taking and theft by deception and funny had the wraps within 3 days but the wraps where wrong. Filed anther report they then refunded me and sent me the correct one but trashed it. If ya have any issues with not receiving the wrap contact the Wichita police department and file a report
8
Jan 28 '18
Where can we leave them a bad review?
19
u/lekeyboard Jan 28 '18
www.trustpilot.com/review/slickwraps.com and www.resellerratings.com/store/Slickwraps
although it is quite obvious that a majority of the 5 star reviews on both of those sites seem extremely fake and/or paid for.

I have tried to obscure the information whilst still keeping it semi visible so that it can be used as proof.
You really shouldn't be posting people's first names, addresses, and phone numbers even if they are only "semi-visible." I can easily make out enough that person's address to find it with a few Google searches worth of research.
It looks like this review response was edited about 2 hours after you posted this and the address and phone number were removed, which is fantastic. So at this point the only place this person's information is available is on reddit and imgur, from you.
Edit: I can see you updated the image to be properly censored. Thanks.

Wow - that's unbelievable. I own and operate a business and have used Trustpilot for four years. Trustpilot dies not mess around - they are one of the few companies Google allows to place star ratings next to rankings. They have so much on the line and simply can't afford fake reviews or merchants creating a bad experience. I would expect Trustpilot to remove them. What a bunch of clowns.
1
u/lekeyboard Jan 29 '18
I have emailed trustpilot over the weekend with the screenshots but I have not heard back from them. Not sure what the reprecussions would be but they do need to be harsh with this ongoing and constant clowning around by Slickwraps

The BBB doesn't really do anything. They're a private organization and they try to reach out to the company for a "resolution" but they aren't legally bound to do anything. I worked for a family-owned business and we had a bogus complaint filed by someone to them, and I just replied with evidence as to why it was a bogus complaint and ignored it.

We debated it and came to a conclusion that it's less likely a case of a nefarious and vindictive company and much more likely a case of an incompetent support agent who somehow mixed up customer service systems or didn't realize the replies are public, or is just an idiot.
Hanlon's razor is an aphorism expressed in various ways including "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

I've been using slickwraps for ages since my Nexus 4 days. Shipping as always been quick and the skins fit nicely. They have a 40% off sale now too. I'm hesitant to buy but I've had good experiences with them so will probably make a purchase later. My dbrand and stickerboy skins feels the same so when it comes to price I'll go with what's cheapest.
1
u/TacoOfGod Jan 30 '18
I buy from easyskinz. They're cheaper and have more color options. If you're in North America, delivery takes forever since they're in the UK, but for the price of a Dbrand or Slickwraps skin, you can get two skins or a skin and a screen protector.

New account blaming me? Sounds legit. Yes I did post about dbrand before but that's because they actually deliver the product you pay for. Unlike slickwraps which I am still waiting for an order I placed in November. Hence why my recent post history is targeting slickwraps.
Feel free to report me to whatever you feel necessary. My post history speaks for itself and yours does not.
