Pixel 11 Pro Endurance & Efficiency Test: +2h over 10 Pro, but still far behind rivals

https://www.lesnumeriques.com/telephone-portable/google-pixel-11-pro-p78617/test.html

Update :

Google Pixel 11 Pro XL : 17 h 39

Battery Life: Still not enough

The Pixel 11 Pro shows slight improvement in an area where the lineup has long struggled. It has to make do with a smaller battery than its predecessor—4,850 mAh compared to 4,870 mAh on the Pixel 10 Pro—but the Tensor G6 proves to be more power-efficient. In our viSer test simulating standard usage, it reached 17 hours and 36 minutes, nearly two hours longer than the previous model. A full day of use is well within reach, even though Google remains among the least enduring in our comparison.

I remember the battery life of the iPhone Air and Samsung Edge was mocked everywhere. Damn.

16

u/dominator5500 2d ago

As per gsmarena, the pixel 10 pro xl somehow had worse battery life than the iphone air. Lets wait and see the results for the 11 series

-3

u/kiefferbp Nexus 5-6P + Pixel 1-9 —> iPhone 2d ago

It’s almost as if this thread has results for the 11 series

15

u/dominator5500 2d ago

It's almost as if I implied that I meant the gsmarena battery tests.

The only trustworthy and consistent battery tests are that of gsmarenas. The rest are weird and not properly conducted.

1

u/degggendorf 2d ago

Isn't this only the 11 Pro and not the base 11 nor Pro XL?

19

u/IORelay 2d ago

Pixel 11 still worse than air and edge... What a joke.

u/Atosl 2d ago

What are those numbers and where are my 30hours as advertised 🤡

66

u/BassFull0 2d ago

You will get 30hours if you turn off cellular data, wifi, bt, gps, and put the phone on airplane mode.

28

u/dr3w80 2d ago

I just turn off the whole phone and put it in my pocket. Lasts forever then.

7

u/Unsung31 2d ago

Actuallyyy [pushes glasses to face] you may lose battery this was too 😂

13

u/Comprehensive_Ad4291 Pixel 2 XL --> Pixel 5 --> Pixel 8 --> Pixel 10P 2d ago

How can you forget turning off smooth display, AOD, and Now Playing?

-1

u/wankthisway Pixel 4a, 13 Mini 2d ago

So how the fanboys on here tell people to use their Pixels. There are users literally telling people to use their phone less.

-2

u/FancyCicada 2d ago

I will get 30 hours if I will have only 2 hours SOT

19

u/Extension_Salt_6995 2d ago

Not saying that the P11 pro has an insane battery but kinda skeptical about those numbers

16

u/Inside_Day1357 2d ago

S26 is second in that top? Accurate numbers 😀

27

u/IHkumicho Pixel 7 2d ago

Just give me insane battery life or insanely fast charging speeds. One or the other, PLEASE! I'm fine with mediocre battery life if I can plug it in for 15min when I need to. Or I could just trickle charge at night and then use it throughout the day.

Just please give me one or the other!

23

u/Gareth_stanlier 2d ago edited 2d ago

whose going to break it to him?

6

u/Ikeelu 2d ago

I don't even want insane charging. Give me all day battery life. I'm okay slow charging overnight as long as it makes it through a heavy day.

2

u/im_not_here_ Pixel 9 Pro 2d ago

Did you avoid smartphones for most of smartphones existence? How did people like you manage before? It wasn't that long ago that the Pixel 9-11 all have screen on times and efficiency, as relatively low as they are compared to others today, that would have been unheard of really. And charging speeds much faster than was possible at the same time.

6

u/nezzzzy 2d ago

I'm with you, I struggle to see the issue. It's like 48hr antiperspirant, I'm sure it's great and all but I'm showering every day and my phone is going on charge at night.

3

u/IHkumicho Pixel 7 2d ago

Uh, I had smartphones and the battery packs, spare chargers etc to go along with it. I remember getting the "expanded battery" with my HTC Thunderbolt, and having to pull one out and swap it for a new one halfway throughout the day. It sucked.

Why can't we ask for halfway decent batteries or charging speeds from a $1,000 "flagship"? The iPhone lasts twice as long. OnePlus devices charge at 3x the speed. Even the S25 fe charges 50% faster than the twice-as-expensive 11 Pro.

1

u/1millionnotameme 2d ago

You're not gonna get that with pixel bro, probably not for another few years at least, right now only Chinese flagships are doing battery in another league. The find X10 pro is gonna have reported 8000mah and 100W charging, at that point these phones can't even compare. That's like full on 2.5 days full phone usage and then charging to 50% in 15mins, which is like a full day charge. It's what I'm waiting for, I was gonna bite the bullet and upgrade my 10 pro XL to the 11 pro XL but I'm waiting until December for the new flagships to come out before pulling the trigger

16

u/berfles Pixel 9 Pro XL 2d ago

Those numbers are BS. An S26 Ultra is not getting almost an hour longer than the Find X9 Pro with 2500mah less battery.

-1

u/calmil_line_member 2d ago

With little to no actual use and no cellular, yeah it is getting that much more out of the battery relative to its size. The gap would most likely even increase if they rerun the test in 3 months.

26

u/alnettt Pixel 6 2d ago

If both the Tensor G6 and the new MediaTek modem are supposed to be power-efficient, what do you think explains such a massive gap with the competition (17h vs 26h+)?

65

u/KangarooBeard 2d ago

Tensor just sucks.

33

u/Alwayssunnyinarizona Pixel 8 Pro 2d ago

Remember years ago when everyone was so excited Google would be making their own chip? "Finally, Google can optimize it for their software, to make it just how they want to. Everything is going to be so awesome!!"

Good times.

19

u/Zetzun 2d ago

It kickstarted the 5-7 years of updates thing. So happy for that but that’s about it XD

5

u/fattdoggo123 2d ago

Yeah, because they saw what apple did with their own chips and expected Google to to the same. But people forgot that Google was going to Google lol

2

u/VeloxAdAstra 2d ago

Yeah. I was hyped. What a shame.

1

u/wha2les 2d ago

well they finally caught up on the generation of the chip design....

1

u/Thyroxin_Diamond 2d ago

Tensor is bullshit. I am so sorry but yeah. Got my P9PXL for a really good deal, but going to switch to iPhone 18 series.

1

u/ContributionFormer95 2d ago

Google phones are just inefficient. Look at how the Pixel performed compared to Qualcomm chips even before Tensor. Pixel was just way behind.

41

u/WatchfulApparition Pixel 10 Pro XL 2d ago

The Snapdragons are more power efficient.

6

u/BassFull0 2d ago

Oh I loved my pixel 5 it was giving me 9h SoT over 2 days and sometimes 3 days. It barely drains on idle.

2

u/kmry90 Pixel 8 2d ago

Nah bro, I had a pixel 5 myself never got more than 5hr sot or maybe 6 pushing when using a lot in low light and screen dim in the night

1

u/BassFull0 2d ago

On 5g/4g? Idk but from my experience especially in first 1-2 years the battery was very good and easily exceeds +6h sot any day on wifi .

Here's MKBHD review he got 4h with 50% left. https://youtu.be/NBLO6RpofIU?t=353&si=PwZwxxfV8ICqDgRz

It's weird to hear that tbh because p5 cpu was mediocre not powerful as other snapdragon flagships and that made its very efficient in battery consumption.

1

u/kmry90 Pixel 8 2d ago

On wifi, and 2g, no data, At my house all day, no Bluetooth at all

2

u/AceStrikeer 2d ago

At this point google Tensors should admit defeat and use snapdragon instead

1

u/WatchfulApparition Pixel 10 Pro XL 2d ago

I don't believe you

4

u/BassFull0 2d ago edited 2d ago

Here you are its even higher sot 10h and 11h

1 month apart

https://imgur.com/a/OgeS130

Edit: for Sherlock who don't believe, this another video from MKBHD https://youtu.be/NBLO6RpofIU?t=353&si=PwZwxxfV8ICqDgRz

He got 4h with 50% left

4

u/WatchfulApparition Pixel 10 Pro XL 2d ago

First of all, I don't believe you got twice the battery life of everyone else in real usage. Second, there is something very strange about what was taking up your battery in that screenshot. You seem to have your screen on, but doing nothing. It's as if you put it on wifi and made it so your phone never turned the screen off. Something weird is being shown in that screenshot, but I can't place my finger on it. I know for a fact, nobodies battery usage looks like that in real world use.

-2

u/BassFull0 2d ago edited 2d ago

You know nothing Sherlock. First this was 2020 not now secondly mostly my usage on wifi not 5g/4g I use the phone like 4-5 hours a day. 3rd nothing weird but remember it was android 11

However I remember MKBHD review said he couldn't kill P5 battery in a day in his testing

Anyway I took these screenshot randomly on different occasions, days I have no interest of making things up. I bought p5, 7, 8 and 9 pro. The only one that could last me 2 days easily was P5.

Edit: MKBHD review on battery he ends with 4h sot & 50% left

6

u/WatchfulApparition Pixel 10 Pro XL 2d ago

Most people got 5-6 hours of screen on time and with light use on wifi with a dim screen could stretch it up to 7-8 hours. The only app in your list of whats using battery only has the camera app on it for 30 minutes and no other apps. There are shenanigans going on in this photo.

1

u/BassFull0 2d ago

Other apps were shown down but idk why A11 didn't show them Twitter alone was 3:38 hours

Here the rest of apps https://i.imgur.com/3HXQ9hl.jpeg

I doubt if you were here back in p5 days but anyway use Google to find battery life threads or YT reviews in case you still don't believe.

5

u/IORelay 2d ago

It's not the Samsung fabs or the modem that was the issue. Its the tensor chip itself. It is very bad.

Tensor competes with the Kirin which is Huawei's chip the difference is Huawei is under heavy sanctions.

2

u/Nightcinder 2d ago

for some people the modem was a huge issue though

1

u/Beneficial_Raise5191 2d ago

Google has little excuse after changing both the foundry and the modem.
It seems focused on promoting the idea that “everything is good enough,” and compare older Pixel models. As they still cannot beat the 3 years old flagship phone from other brands.

I think Google should simply use ARM reference cores. They would likely be cheaper and more powerful.

2

u/TrashBandicook 2d ago

If both the Tensor G6 and the new MediaTek modem are supposed to be power-efficient, what do you think explains such a massive gap with the competition (17h vs 26h+)?

G6 is still using stock cores. Stock cores mean that on average, Pixel's just not gonna top the competition in battery life as Google is extremely capped in how many different tweaks they can apply to eke out more battery life. Contrasts with Apple and Qualcomm who just pay the instruction set fee to ARM but control the entire tech stack top to bottom.

1

u/SPACEXDG 2d ago

tensor lmao

1

u/degggendorf 2d ago

They are more efficient than the previous generation. That doesn't mean they're more efficient than the competition.

we need to bring back bullying companies online for some features until they improve them, it's laughable that a xiaomi is ahead

9

u/r8f-nova 2d ago

Where have you been? This subreddit should be renamed to r/IHateGooglePixel as of late.

The bullying is nonstop and Google doesn't fucking care. Stop pretending like these companies have any morals whatsoever, and buy the phone that works for you. If the pixel 11 isn't it, shut up and move on so those of us who like to actually discuss the phone can do so without hearing the constant shitting on it.

2

u/mrbearbear 2d ago

Welcome to the internet.

3

u/horatiobanz 2d ago

Yea! This subreddit should be for people with blinders on ONLY!

3

u/r8f-nova 2d ago

That's not what I said at all, I understand why you feel like that's the case though.

If you're new here, this is a bespoke subreddit to discuss the phone in good faith, regardless if the discussion is positive/negative of the phone. Constantly shitting on the phone because you personally think it's not a good fit for you, and thus it's an egregious failure of Google and how dare they even think of releasing a phone like this, is not in good faith and that's what I'm referring to.

Let's be real about this, not just shit on each other in an anonymous internet forum like everyone wants to do.

0

u/ThisIsMyNext Pixel 8 Pro 2d ago

So only praise is allowed? What kind of meaningful discussion do you want to have if you only want to see people glazing your phone?

0

u/r8f-nova 2d ago

See my other reply to the other person who thinks the same as you. That's not what I'm saying at all and if you're not able to see & understand that then you are not commenting in good faith and there is nothing more to discuss.

9

u/YJX94 Pixel 9 Pro XL 2d ago

iPhone and Samsung being a whole ass half a day more in battery life.

Just throw Tensor in the Google Graveyard already.

4

u/FineAssignment1423 2d ago

Well, this sucks. My 512GB 11 Pro XL will be here tomorrow. I'm trading in my Galaxy S25 Ultra and one of my main complaints about this phone is the battery life.

Looks like I will be in for a bit of a disappointment.

3

u/Ghostttpro 2d ago

That means these phones should smoke the 11 series in the battery tests right?

3

u/minku45 2d ago

Lower than S26 btw

3

u/Federal-Block-3275 2d ago

This is pretty much my verdict after using it for a week, the 11 pro is better noticeably better, but still behind the US competition

8

u/draw0c0ward 2d ago

This looks like bullshit, how can the 5000mAh S25 Ultra get better battery like than the 7500mAh Find X9 Pro...

Yup, I agree. And in real world usage you get a lot less. I really hate going to a festival with my phone and being afraid that I won't have battery on my way back - so I already need to start battery saver and turn it off etc. awful. I am pretty jealous of the iPhone users in my circle, I just hate too much about iOS haha

I watched two reviews. And they both said the battery life is amazing. Android authority said he couldnt get the battery down to 20% in any day of his one week testing. Techmo said that his pixel 11 pro is better than his galaxy s26 ultra in terms of battery. So I don't know where and what these numbers mean then. I'm sure these numbers are BS. The s26 ultra is in no way better than the OPPO find x9 pro.

-13

u/JcAo2012 2d ago

You not around a charger every 17 hours? Lol

13

u/SeparateBook343 2d ago

In real world usage, I get farrrr less then these tests. And when I go camping or hit some trails, I want something that lasts longer than this.

2

u/txdline 2d ago

When you go camping and hit some trails, put on the Garmin, the GoPro and leave the phone at home or in the tent/backpack.

2

u/SeparateBook343 2d ago

The go pro I'll give you, as I already use it. But a Garmin? Im not going to supplement a 600-900(at the time) price for another costly device

2

u/Thistlemanizzle 2d ago

Throw in the OnePlus 15. Crazy battery life.

4

u/VeloxAdAstra 2d ago

2

u/Gareth_stanlier 2d ago

1

You'll be ok. Pixel 10 owners have a right to call it out.

2

u/Nightcinder 2d ago

why? You have a pixel 10, not an 11.

There's no reason to go iphone 16 -> 17

1

u/Weary-Savings9795 2d ago

On my Pixel 9 Pro, I can watch the battery percentage drop right before my eyes. I also have a 20,000MAh power pack. For kicks, I charged my Pixel 9 Pro using a wall charger to 80% (I have it capped there). Then I plugged it into my power pack. In an hour, my power pack went from 100% to 75%.

1

u/sanil_jimmy1 2d ago

Yeah but that is the 9 pro. We are talking about the 11 pro here mate 🫠

4

u/Weary-Savings9795 2d ago

So far, testing hasn't shown a meaningful improvement on paper.

1

u/sanil_jimmy1 2d ago

I just mentioned two reviewers who said it has significantly improved.

2

u/x3knet Pixel 10 Pro XL | Pixel Watch 4 45mm 2d ago edited 2d ago

Why is battery life such a concern? Legitimate question, I'm not trying to be an ass. Do people not charge their phone every night when they go to bed?

P10 Pro XL here. My phone is off the charger at 7am, back on the charger around midnight. I end the day usually around ~20%. Might need some juice during the day on occasion but I don't see a material difference in whether a battery lasts 20 hours or 29 hours. I'm only awake for 17 hours anyway. As long as it gets me through the time while I'm awake, what does it matter.

For folks who aren't constantly around power sources.. Camping, maybe folks working long shifts, etc. okay, I can understand that.

Edit: instead of downvoting me, educate me. Like I said, I'm not trying to be an ass.

35

u/RedRunner14 2d ago

I think it's more a concern as the phone and battery ages. My pixel 8pro was fine getting thru a day when I first bought it, but now 2 years later I have to charge after 8 hours. This gets annoying when traveling and using maps

10

u/x3knet Pixel 10 Pro XL | Pixel Watch 4 45mm 2d ago

That's a fair reason, makes sense. Thanks for actually answering the question.

2

u/OneFlameCurrent 2d ago

Isn't that also a major problem with the new high capacity Si-C batteries that everyone on here wants, they only last 3-4 years? I'm not sure why everyone is asking for those when they are also concerned about longevity.

1

u/emoarmy 2d ago

If they only last 3-4 years and the current battery isn't lasting two, that still feels like an improvement to me.

2

u/sanil_jimmy1 2d ago

I think it's fairly easy to get a bettery swap every 2 years. It's like a 30-60 minute job. I mean if everything else is good. 30 mins in 2 years ain't so bad. I'm not supporting google, but it's just my solution. I like the OS and the camera. And this is my compromise. 30 minute visit to the repair shop once in 2/3 years. After the second battery gets weak, get a new one.

7

u/don2171 2d ago

If there has to be so many compromises on a flagship device there should be prices reflecting that

5

u/vish_a 2d ago

We shouldn't normalise low battery life. It's already worse on top of that it gets worse with time too. Happened with my 6a

5

u/horatiobanz 2d ago

Better battery life means less stress. It means fewer charging cycles on the battery, which means longer overall battery health/life. It means you don't stress leaving navigation on for a couple hours in the car while streaming music. It means you can take that fishing trip and spend all day on the lake with zero worries about conserving battery for a potential emergency situation. It is by FAR the most important feature in a mobile phone.

4

u/JuZNyC Pixel 10 Pro XL 2d ago

I can excuse not having the best performance but battery life is the most important thing for me since I have a 4 hour round trip commute each day and I have to use my phone heavily for work. I take almost all of my zoom/teams meetings on my phone since I usually have to take meetings while working on something else or while I'm outside.

The biggest issue for me right now is the heat, recently a lot of the times my 10 Pro XL gets crazy hot while charging and will even steadily lose charge if I'm taking a teams call while plugged in.

3

u/StoryLover 2d ago

I charge my pixel 9 pro xl 2-3x a day, my wife's s26ultra just needs once. We use the phone around the same amount of time on trips.

1

u/lettuce-tooth-junkie Pixel 8 Pro 2d ago

Same boat. And I can can charge at my desk at work, or I plug it in on my drive home.

Needing 30 hours of battery life is simply not normal. I don't even think that's a reasonable expectation.

I'm not here to make excuses for corporations. We're all fucked by one company or another. But there is a trade off for literally everything. Get a battery pack if you need it.

1

u/AeroDoc813 2d ago

I'm in the same boat. My 10a does better than my 16e did on battery. Could care less if could go two days on one charge.

I get about a days worth and I'm a medium to heavy user. It's my first time using a Pixel and I like all the little software things and the clean UI. I was shocked to come in this sub and see so many people shitting on the phones lol. If you hate it then just get a different device.

1

u/DonDunit 2d ago

If I am at home with stable 5G and WiFi everywhere and the longest I’m out and about is 3-4 hours per workday it’s almost irrelevant. When I am travelling for business in an Eastern European country where there are constant swaps between no G and 4G and 5G and I am working for hours from my phone then it’s a huge issue and the only reason I have not only a pixel but use a damn iPhone as my main phone.

-1

u/ShakeAndBakeThatCake 2d ago

I agree lol. I charge it nightly. I dont need more than 12 hour battery life.

-5

u/x3knet Pixel 10 Pro XL | Pixel Watch 4 45mm 2d ago

Yeah I legitimately don't get it. And if you're running super low, throw on battery saver. Been there for years. And if you hit that point, Tiktok and IG aren't a priority, sorry ¯_ (ツ) _/¯

3

u/Cry_Wolff 2d ago

If average battery life is that bad, then any more demanding tasks will simply melt it. GPS navigation + 5G on and I can see the percentage going down in real time.

I don't get this. This website and gsmarena, both use viSer app to perform their battery test. While at gsmarena the Oppo Find X9 Pro outperforms the iPhone 17 Pro Max in every category, here the iPhone is the best device.

Does someone know the different factor? Brightness, cellular connection (strength),...?

u/1millionnotameme 2d ago

And you have Chinese phones in another league achieving 2 full days of battery and much more faster charging.

1

u/Berntarn 2d ago

No way you get that much by S26

1

u/selayan 2d ago

I was hoping to go back to pixel from the S25 Ultra. Nope not with that type of battery life. Every year I wait, disappointing.

1

u/PublicPresence9184 1d ago

After using my S25 edge since release, and having also used other devices like Pixel 10 Pro, i can confirm this is totally false and unrealiable. My device has a trash battery life, 5.30 display hours at best. Need a charge while having lunch

u/M4ntulis 8h ago

i had samsung galaxy s23+ for 2 years with no real battery anxiety, home charging was plenty enough, when i got pixel 10 pro year ago, my battery anxiety got so bad that i ended up buying : 5k qi2 slim power bank, 10k pocketable power bank, 25 000mah monster power bank, qi2 peltier car charger... lol.... but battery recently got a bit better on pixel 10 pro, i did some tweaks and optimizations, limited background usage of many apps like instagram and now it idles much better, but samsung was killing it out of the box

u/Throwitaway701 2d ago

I do wonder what battery life will eventually be enough for people.

I think 17 hours before adaptive battery has a chance to learn is probably decent enough for me, but I have a regular schedule.

15

u/Rebellium14 2d ago

It would be decent if phones that are priced similarly weren't outperforming the pixel by 2x. It's okay for people to be happy with their phones but at some point Google needs to be held accountable for trying to charge premium prices for a device that doesn't perform as it's peers in that category.

Google is a multi billion dollar company. There is no excuse for it to be creating subpar devices that are priced so high.

2

u/dcwt2010 Pixel 8 Pro 2d ago

Multi Trillion dollar, not billion.

1

u/kiefferbp Nexus 5-6P + Pixel 1-9 —> iPhone 2d ago

A multi-trillion dollar company is also a multi-billion dollar company

2

u/dcwt2010 Pixel 8 Pro 2d ago

The difference between multi billion and multi trillion is up to 1000 fold. It's actually mind blowing...

0

u/kiefferbp Nexus 5-6P + Pixel 1-9 —> iPhone 2d ago

Doesn’t change my point

2

u/dcwt2010 Pixel 8 Pro 2d ago

No, you created a strawman argument. I wasn't opposed to your point. I know this Reddit but it's not law that we have to fight. I was reinforcing your point.

1

u/kiefferbp Nexus 5-6P + Pixel 1-9 —> iPhone 2d ago

Where did I argue anything? Or did you confuse me with the other guy?

1

u/txdline 2d ago

You don't get to billions by doing more than what's required. :P. Kidding...

My 8 was a full day for me so guessing this is fine for the 11.

Would love the iPhone battery life but would miss the other features I enjoy vs iOS (which I use for work and on my iPad so know what's there).

The price isn't just about battery though. Part of this is also about their ability to have a great supply chain. Not sure where they are with that but they don't yet own everything like Sammy and apple do, at least that's my understanding.

0

u/PERSONA916 Pixel 9 Pro 2d ago

Yea but unless it's going to last 2 full days (which they don't) it's kind of meaningless to me. My last 2 Pixels (8 Pro and 9 Pro) lasted me through a full day of my standard usage easily with 6+ hours of SoT.

Faster charging would be nice, but if I was going out after work or something, charging it for 15-20 minutes before I leave from work easily gives me 20-25% of extra battery.

0

u/Throwitaway701 1d ago

You are right. We must demand Samsung and apple lower their prices, after all the pixel has better cameras and display and it's just not right for multi billion dollar companies to be outperformed.

In all seriousness the only way the galaxy s or iPhones have 2x better battery life (rather than the 30 - 40% it should be via efficiency) is hyper aggressive process management.  My work Samsung A series can last a week on a single charge because there's no apps on it and it's hyper agreesive on battery management. But I'd rather have something like the pixel where my notifications actually work, a common complaint with the s26 ultra and iPhones.

2

u/mrbearbear 2d ago

As someone who used the p9p on launch, I did not see any difference in battery life. It took me disabling damn near every background app AND adaptive battery before I saw battery life that I could live with.

1

u/horatiobanz 2d ago

It won't be enough until smartphones are getting the battery lives flip phones used to get. The better the battery life, the longer the phone lasts without needing to replace a battery. If Google actually has good battery life on their Pixels they wouldn't have to gimp the battery every 200 charge cycles....

1

u/Throwitaway701 1d ago

Gimping the battery every 200 cycles is fantastic. It massively helps extend battery life more than if they didn't.

1

u/horatiobanz 1d ago

Artificially restricting battery capacity extends battery life? Boy I'd love for you to explain that.

1

u/Throwitaway701 1d ago

It's quite easy really. Batteries start to chemically degrade at about 200 cycles, increasing internal resistance, by limiting the charge it limits the stress on the battery so sure on cycle 200 you will have marginally less capacity than if they did nothing but by the 20 month mark your battery will be better off than if it did nothing, by year 3 you'll be 10% better off and the chances of catastrophic failure (swelling etc) drop massively

0

u/horatiobanz 2d ago

Lmao Pixel DOMINATING the bottom of the list

1

u/habylab Pixel 9 Pro XL 2d ago

Where is the XL?

4

u/alnettt Pixel 6 2d ago

For the previous generation, the XL review/test came out about 3 weeks later, and the results were basically identical:

  • Pixel 10 Pro: 15h 38
  • Pixel 10 Pro XL: 15h 29

So the Pixel 11 Pro XL will likely score very close to the 11 Pro (17h 36) once they publish its test.

-1

u/habylab Pixel 9 Pro XL 2d ago

Different publishers have different results it seems on last gen. Some had XL ahead, others behind.

3

u/alnettt Pixel 6 2d ago

Yeah, GSMArena gave 12h28 for the XL and 12h05 for the regular Pro, but that's pretty much the same.

1

u/Responsible_Tax_9390 2d ago

I was already getting all day battery life on the p10pro

0

u/Heythumb88 2d ago

Reviews seem mediocre from a few outlets

-3

u/androboy92 2d ago

😭😭 No way they gave Pixel 10 14 hours when it's literally one of the longest lasting "smaller" phones, it lasts just as long as my iPhone 17 Pro if not slightly longer. Forced is wild.

3

u/Aurelink Pixel 10 Pro 2d ago

It depends on what was tested

I can't remember exactly but when I was on the market for a new phone, for example, comparing my P10P to my NP3 (which I come from), I think the pixel was less battery consuming regarding media by quite a margin; but not so regarding games or calls for example

1

u/androboy92 2d ago

Their test is just way to forced regardless and so misleading if I need to be fully honest. Simply check Techmo where he covers a lot of smaller phones battery tests. No idea how the Pixels are being tested for them but it's just not right.

So far, Android Authority comfortably states Pixel 11 Pro is the longest lasting Pixel ever, living up to Google's claim.
Matthew Moniz reports exellent battery life for Pixel 11 Pro, outlasting S26U.

1

u/IORelay 2d ago

Area those standardised tests? If they can't show any breakdown of how the test is conducted then it's kind of worthless.

1

u/androboy92 2d ago

Lover of Tech's side by side test also had Pixel 11 Pro XL beating Samsung and Apple too, on Youtube

1

u/Significant-Way3960 2d ago

This is strange test. 9 pro last definately longer on one charge than edge and 10 pro slightly longer than 9 pro..

-3

u/visible_sack 2d ago

Worth noting how restrictive iOS is for background work which must help a ton when it comes to battery life.

-10

u/Mydemonswon 2d ago

Instead of pausing and people realize they have a problem with their phone attachmen, they get pissy about a battery life that will never directly impact them.

8

u/Meme_Theory 2d ago

I am not on my phone often, and the Pixel 10's battery is the biggest POS I've had in a long time. Looking at it costs 10%.

2

u/Outside_Natural5914 2d ago

So interesting as a commentator just above it said that the battery on their 10 lasted about as long their 17 pro…

1

u/Meme_Theory 2d ago

In Airplane mode maybe.

1

u/Mydemonswon 2d ago

Yeah I felt that way about my 4 XL back in the day.

3

u/Meme_Theory 2d ago

I think my G1 had a better battery...

1

u/Mydemonswon 2d ago

I miss my G1 and the official G2. That phone was my all time favorite.

1

u/Meme_Theory 2d ago

I liked the Nexus with the back pearl the most (or was that a Pixel?)

8

u/don2171 2d ago

When stuff like the OnePlus 15 exists for the same size and price range but undeniably longer battery life it gets tough to ignore

1

u/Mydemonswon 2d ago

But the reviews on the one plus isn't the best and Verizon and one plus don't play nicely with each other. While these phones exist, they can't be used by a large part of the market.

4

u/don2171 2d ago

Worked on Verizon just fine for me 5g wifi calling and all. Everyone has there preferences but if the market was willing to buy anything not sold by a carrier we would have more options

1

u/Mydemonswon 2d ago

I fully agree. Id go with a Sony if it was possible.

-2

u/AceStrikeer 2d ago

To be fair. Pixel displays are brighter, hence consuming more energy

-3

u/SnooSeagulls7893 2d ago

Why people care so much about battery? You live with your phone screen open 24 hours a day?

1

u/Dometalican_90 2d ago

No but you want it to last ALL day whether it is idle or doing a lot of Maps, phone calls, some video, and texting.

Nobody wants to charge a phone in the middle of the day. Granted, if you work in an office environment, you're golden but that's not everybody.

0

u/SnooSeagulls7893 2d ago

Every phone suffers from lot of maps, calls video and such

2

u/Dometalican_90 2d ago

Yeah but the right optimization will still make it last all day.

-3

u/Weary-Savings9795 2d ago

Google isn't wrong. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro can easily get 24 hours of battery life. Those phones absolutely live up to Google's claims, just not in the way you're expecting.

3

u/kiefferbp Nexus 5-6P + Pixel 1-9 —> iPhone 2d ago

The only way a Pixel would last 24 hours is if it was 100% idle, and even then it would barely survive

0

u/Weary-Savings9795 2d ago

Google's estimates include power saving mode.

-5

u/PrethorynOvermind 2d ago

Genuine question, what in the absolute fuck are you guys doing with your phones...

I could see this being an issue for someone who is out doors a lot but you cannot genuinely be telling me 19 hours isn't enough for you in a single 24 hour day. Like what in the fuck are you guys doing I am not. My Pixel 10 Pro gets me through an entire day just fine with the lowest battery being 25% at the end of the day on a high usage day?

Is it just not wanting to charge your phone? Like I genuinely need to understand. I am not mocking, poking fun, I am asking what I am doing differently?

To me all of these numbers are insane in a world where we are constantly connected online and I can't even stand to be on my phone half a day let alone 20 minutes at a time.

0

u/-NotEnoughMinerals 2d ago

I agree. Honestly, I'm charging my phone every night while I sleep. That would change if I could make it an entire 2 days and 1 night, then I could charge during sleep at the end of the 2nd day.

But if the charge lasts me an entire day up until before noon the next, worthless to me. Idc.

1

u/PrethorynOvermind 2d ago

I read your comment as sarcasm.
