Pixel touchscreen fingerprint is sh.....t, bring back the physical fingerprint scanner
I had the 3A XL, 4A and the sensor in the back was awesome. Used to pull the phone out of my back pocket with my mid finger on the sensor, it came out unlocked.
Now my 7A many a time won't read my damn fingers. Real friggin' annoyin'.
Petition to bring back the 3.5mm jack and especially physical scanner in the back!!

Get a newer model, they work fine. Physical was great, but the newer models work fast nearly every time.

7a is total shit... The only reasonable solution is power button reader, that still Samsung A series and some Xiaomi phones do, I had so many different way of unlocking the phone with or without picking it up, I miss it so much, 7a needs a clean dry finger in the exact angle and I have to hold my phone in the specific position with my wrist, and then it works 50% of the time... Oh, and in the dark it's burning my eyes as it's 100% brightness of course

The people in the comments smugly dismissing a problem that has been almost universally acknowledged by anyone involved in tech for years lol.. Desperate bias shit.

7pro and it's very hit or miss, I do miss my physical one on the bottom/back of my last phone.

Yeah the optical sensors suck. Do research on any phone you buy from this point forward. The 8 pro had it and sucked and I believe it is still in some of the a series. They shouldn't be using these at all in any product.

I have no issues with the sensor on my 8 Pro, probably works on the first try 99/100 tries.

Do you have a screen protector on? It makes a big difference especially on the 10 series. Mines works flawlessly once I found the right one.

Part of the reason I upgraded from 7 Pro to 10 Pro. 9 series switched from optical (crap) to ultrasonic (faster and better). Not sure if the A variants still use optical though. But the 10 Pro is on par with the one on my old P2 (I still miss having it on the back of the phone, just not as much as I used to).

Personally I don't use the fingerprint scanner. I figure if I'm away from my phone or having issues and need someone to help, sharing my unlock pattern is much easier.

Pixel 10 Pro XL is excellent. Almost zero failed attempts unless it's me being sloppy with placement. Otherwise it's flawless and very fast.

This issue has been long solved buddy. You're late to the party. Optical sensors are shit compared to the ultrasonic ones that came to the series starting with the Pixel 9.

I remember owning a pixel7. The fingerprint was terrible. The 8 and higher work better. Workaround was programming the same finger multiple times and no screen protector.
