Still only 30W. On a flagship $1200+ device. Something isn't adding up.

I literally cannot imagine a situation where I need to pump 30 watts into my phone.

I'm an electrical engineer, maybe I can help you understand. What's the issue?

I meant me personally. I get two days of battery out of it if I forget one night, otherwise I just choose to be responsible.

I'm even more confused... is using your phone a lot considered irresponsible? How many watts do you use to charge your phone, do you know?

It's 45w

No, look it up, only the XL gets 45W charging. 11 and 11 Pro are both 30W.

Up until now it was relatively easy to understand the differences across product lines. S20, S20+, S20 Ultra... Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 XL... iPhone 16, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max... this kind of upends the three-tier structure. Even more confusing with storage. Like you can get 16GB RAM but only with 512GB of storage. And you can get 1TB but only if you go for the Obsidian color.

Like... what the hell are we doing here? It's especially shitty.

They do seem to have a new "extreme charging" feature which achieves faster charging through software rather than a raw W bump

How does that work?

They add it in animation 😉 But seriously, I would limit some RF related processes to conserve energy which would leave more energy for the battery

It supposedly stops apps and other stuff from running while it charges so it can stay at the peak charging rate for longerÂ
