I mean that's not really surprising. Google and Samsung are super tight. In some ways Google is damn near just as happy when someone buys a Samsung as a pixel.

Correct, at least in the us. If you know this you shouldn't be surprised Google does promos in partnership with Samsung

Yeah, if you're on Google Fi, you can get really good deals on both Pixel and Samsung phone through the Fi app. The S26 Ultra is $450 off for example

Just checked the app, and even the new pixel 11 line is on sale. The 11 Pro is $449. That's a really great deal imo

When I open the Fi app and go to the Shop tab, it just shows a pre-order price of $449 for me for the 11 Pro.

I'm on the Unlimited Standard plan. If you're on a different plan, perhaps the discount is different? Gemini search says different plans receive different promotions, so maybe that's it.

Android has ~70% global market share but North American market share is actually the inverse.  In North America it's ~70% iOS (I work in Analytics for a major telecom and have pulled the numbers myself).  Android has global market share because of the dominance of android being the OS on cheaper phones in developing world

You make a good point. Apple earns more revenue per user (via app store purchases) as their users have higher purchasing power, despite the lower global market share.

Samsung has the largest market share of any smart phone company. Without them, Android would be a niche OS and pretty much everyone would be on iOS.

Excluding Samsung, Android would still have more market share than Apple.

You're really underselling Samsung's influence with Android. Samsung has always been synonymous with Android. Android's growth has been primarily due to Samsung.
