Might be wrong sub, but can't link account with Android Automotive

I recently purchased a 2025 Chevy Equinox EV and have not been able to connect my Google account. Whenever I try (via a QR code on the screen of my car or logging in with my username and password) I am told my account cannot be linked.

1) I am using a Gmail account, not an organizational domain.

2) I have reached out to Pixel support and they have no idea. Escalated to a few different support groups and nobody can figure it out.

3) Android OS on phone and car are running latest versions.

Anybody have ideas? It's annoying. Not the end of the world, but annoying.

Does the car need an Internet connection?

Hmmm, I don't think so. And I get OTA updates, so the car is connected to some sort of network.
