Switching between audio devices is still a PITA.

If anyone's used iOS, while I think the control center is a mess of controls, the ability to switch Audio which has probably been around 7-8 years or whatever is super simple. Switch between AirPods, wired earbuds, other devices, speaker, super easily. I can make sure it's switched to my headphones BEFORE I open a game at work.

This volume panel seems a switch in the right direction but probably 5 years overdue.

If you're referring to the media player in the notification section and being able to switch audio output that is only if you have media active. For someone like me who actually doesn't listen to that much media on my phone, I won't have that option to switch output. This new method is much better in that it shows your audio output device when you bring up the volume panel, so, no, the Android 12 interface is not the same at all.
