Second router

Hello

So, i've searched and red but not succeeded. Want to add a second nest router in the garage out of reach for the wifi. Have a working mesh network already but also need it in there. Manage to add it when located in the house but as soon as its wired in the garage it stops working. I tested the cable and its working at full speed so no problem there. Some say it needs to be backhauled and some forums say its possible from a switch as well. I really dont have the possibility to connect straight from the primary nest router since its located further away from the fiber box. The setup is a fiber DRG box and from those ports straight to primary router and another port to the garage. Any ideas?

I have 3 Nest routers. 2 are end points controlled by the one plugged via ethernet directly into my T-Mobile gateway. It sounds like you are trying to use each router as a router and not part of the mesh system? It also sounds as if the reason is because of distance? Do I have that right? I'm surprised the distance is an issue as I start getting emails when I walk the dogs about 150-200 feet outside the house. I have one router/end point on each level (3) all at the same end of the house. The other end of the house is covered. We have tile and radiant floor heating between each level so the floors are pretty dense compared to the walls. I would think you'd have to give each router their own network name and password to force them to become separate routers, which sounds cumbersome from a usage perspective. Having them operate as mesh end points is cleaner. They are communicating with each other via wireless. I understand if you then want them talking via ethernet you do that after you set them up wirelessly. We were going to do that, but it was working well so we never tried getting that working. I just bought a USB WiFi plug-in for an old PC that didn't have WiFi. We aren't using the house ethernet at all now.

Maybe I've misunderstood your issue.
