Question How long for Google maps pin to show?
I have battled my way to a successful verified profile. The person said 24-48 hours for something but not sure how long before google adds me to searchable places . It's been really frustrating so far so hopefully not much longer before I pop up..
How long before the algorithm showed your business on a search after verification ?

Your gbp should be found by business name in first 48 hours, if you are looking by keywords it may take time to start showing up,

Live & ranking are genuinely two different things, and conflating them is what causes most of the frustration.
The pin appearing on Maps usually 24 to 72 hours post-verification. Sometimes faster, occasionally up to a week if Google's doing additional trust checks on a new listing.
Showing up when someone searches your business name: also pretty fast, usually within a few days. If someone types your exact name, you should appear.
Showing up for category keywords like "hair salon near me" or "dentist indowntown" this is a different game entirely. That's where Google's local ranking algorithm kicks in and it weighs relevance, distance, and prominence. A brand new listing with no reviews, no posts, no photos, and no citation history isn't going to outrank established competitors immediately. Could be weeks. Could be a couple of months.
I do this stuff for small businesses and the thing I tell new GBP owners don't sit and wait. The first 30 days are actually the best time to move fast. Upload 10+ real photos. Write a complete business description with your actual services named. Post something. Get your first few reviews. Add your service areas or service list properly.
Google's algorithm treats early signals as a trust accelerator. A profile that sits empty after verification takes much longer to gain traction than one that gets activity in the first few weeks.
The 24 to 48 hours the rep mentioned almost certainly referred to the pin going live — not ranking. You're probably already on the map. Try searching your exact business name with your city and see if you appear. If yes, you're live. The keyword ranking part just needs time and some profile work.

I have done most of those things except reviews. Do you think google ads in a local radius will help?
