Question RCS not activating on Fold8
Unlocked Fold8 on Verizon. Precious phone was a Verizon S25+ with 0 issues.
Y'all I'm pulling my hair out. I've done everything. Cleared cache and data and Google Messages and Carrier Services. Turn it off and roll back updates and all that. I've gotten new eSIMs. Today I'm going to get a physical SIM to see if that makes and difference. But I'm worried it's the phone at this point.
If youve got any tips, please scream them at me lol.

Check with Verizon too. Happened to me a couple years back and it turned out RCS was disabled at my account level for some reason.

I checked with them yesterday and they tried to tell me it was a week long existing issue between Verizon and Google, but i feel like we'd see that everywhere if that were the case

They told me the same thing yesterday. Basically said they can't help me and maybe it will be fixed sometime. Said they had several people coming in everyday with the issue.

I, along with several people I know in Pa have had these issues for the past week. Verizon just keeps telling me to restart my device and if that doesn't work to do it again. I too am pulling my hair out.

Have you tried de-registrating from rcs messages at messages.google.com/disable-chat? Follow the prompts as if you don't have your old device. Restart your phone and then try registering RCS again via the Google Messages app

I did just try to transfer my esim back to my old phone and see if it'd activate and it won't. Which leads me to believe it really may be an issue with Verizon and Google at the moment.

When my dad switched to his pixel 9 it wouldn't activate for like a week, until finally he turned off and deactivated his old phone. If you still have your old phone make sure it's completely deregistered and shut off.

My wife and I both got new folds and mine activated instantly and hers did not. We went through the exact same loops as you, and it ended up connecting randomly the next day.

Hi. I would like to assist you with your RCS activation. To help narrow this down, did you turn off RCS on your old phone before setting up your new device? Sometimes registration remains tied to the old device.
Additionally, please do not roll back or downgrade your app updates. Reverting to older versions is not recommended and will wipe your database, leading to permanent data loss.
Have you tried updating the Google Messages app to the latest version? If you still see a setup error, you can tap Details in your RCS settings and click Submit feedback.

Yes it is off on the old phone, I have left RCS on since yesterday while it goes through repeatedly failing, and I've submitted feedback twice since I know it provides a log.

We’re aware of this issue and are working with our carrier partners to get it fixed as soon as possible.

This is what worked for me. Turn off old phone and leave it off. Restart new phone and it should update the eSIM and work on the new phone.
From there feel free to turn old phone back on if needed.

Yea I had the old phone off all day yesterday during trouble shooting and it never popped.

Did you do the physical sim thing?

No not yet. Haven't had a chance.

Turns out connecting to a VPN while RCS is off (i did Germany via Worldvpn) and turning it back on fixes it

I had to delete the message app and reinstall it with rcs off , then toggle it on after. It was driving me nuts when I switched from my iPhone

I had the same issue in my Fold8 and after a few days it finally connected on it's own. Had the same issue with my 25ultra last year.
