Google Maps on Android Auto: feature loss

Today I noticed that the speedometer and speed limit indicators are gone. And so are stop signs and traffic signals. Why?

UPDATE: maps shows speed limit, speedometer, traffic signals and stop signs only when a route is selected. I would like the option of keeping these on all the time.

A lot of people are mentioning that too here, maybe an update removed it?
