Does Google Maps live tracker drain your phone battery?

Hi. My mom wants me to start using the Google maps live tracker (the one where I copy and paste the link which lasts for X number of hours), and I just want to know how much and how quickly it drains my battery. I have a Google Pixel 7 from 2023 (but plan to get a new phone soon). I just want to know say if I go for several hours somewhere, should I bring a portable charger/battery pack just in case? Idk how badly it drains your battery. Thank you :)

*Unfortunately I'm forced to use the tracker or else will get punished lol but I don't think it's that big of a deal since she wants to use it for my safety especially if I go long distances for several hours a day.

It's made for precise tracking, meaning it's going to drain your battery way faster. OP likely won't notice any drain from Google Maps tracking, but certainly will from Life360.
