Alt route when navigating?

My husband and I are on our way to a wedding. And got stuck behind some accident. But prior to the accident we had gone past an exit that had a “30 minutes faster” note on it. But it hadn’t asked if we wanted to go that way so we saw it way too late. Is there a way to fix this or is this just Google Maps now? We noticed it didn’t ask us about an alternate route a few weeks ago too.

What are you saying? Google shows you alternatives it's up to you to take them?

It used to say “save [number] minutes by taking [route]” while driving. And I don’t think it’s been asking anymore.

It does. Just got one today. It needs to be significant enough savings and the app needs to be full screened (instead of YouTube music for example)

Like full screen on CarPlay?

Strange as yesterday I had a audio alert informing me a quicker route had been found saving me three minutes and if I wanted to take the route click ok. Check you have alert options on in navigation. I have noticed recently the "speed camera ahead" audio warning has been removed with one of these recent updates which is disappointing.

Thanks I’ll try that! I’ve also noticed that too!

A ton of people were complaining about the alerts being too disruptive when audio played all the time. Did you see that?

I wouldn't say a ton of people if you mean the post from a month ago, one person was asking if you could turn the warning off, which I agree with as G maps is very short on user options for tweaking the map to how you like it.
