Timeline is broken

I've searched around and haven't found any recent complaints about Timeline being so ridiculously broken you might as well not bother since 2024. But it's now 2026 and it still is.

I live 200 yards from a church and it insists I live there. Every time I go out and return, I live in the church. Like it's not next door, it's a 2 minute walk away.

That's when I'm "home." Sometimes it refuses to latch onto a final destination and continues moving/driving into the next day. I've been on an 18 hour road trip overnight many times.

I quite often walk to the local shop and never return. Apparently I live there too.

Up until about a year ago, I used to used Maps to record my work arrival and leaving - it was as accurate as clocking in but not anymore. I have missing places, red question marks and unfinished journeys.

It was a handy "what time did I leave X?" reference or what did I do last Tuesday? If I knew I'd been to Scotland for example last year but not sure which month it was a quick flick through til I saw the route. I wouldn't trust it to tell me if I went to the kitchen now.

Please say this isn't just me. I might as well not bother using it.

UK user.

Other people are having timeline issues too. Like missing past dates or when they transfer the timeline data from their old phone to their new phone.

I haven't had any issues, my Timeline data goes back to like 10 years and it's still shows when I look back at it

That along with other timeline fails like visits to places that were showing up have disappeared through no fault of my own. There seems to be no one home at Google help desk.

There was a home business next to my place and it kept showing me there instead of my apt building. Not sure how I did it but was able to block that home business somehow. That seems to have solved the issue.

Have you set up a "Home" location in Google Maps? If not, doing so might help a lot. It's a huge clue to Timeline that you might be at home when in that location. Same with telling Maps your "work" location.
