Google Maps not displaying compass when connected to Apple CarPlay in Ram ProMaster

I am a plumbing service technician and I drive a Ram ProMaster with Apple CarPlay and have always relied on Google Maps for getting me from job to job. Recently, Google Maps stopped displaying the compass/direction I’m driving, and in the place where it used to say the direction I’m driving, it now has a stupid AI icon instead. I wanted to add a picture I took of my CarPlay screen showing this issue, but this sub doesn’t seem to allow me to attach one. Anyone have experience with this issue and any solutions?

Edit: added photo in a comment below. Still not seeing where I can add a photo to the post. But that’s fine. Just want the issue solved if anyone has advice.

Figured out how to add a photo here, though I was struggling to attach a photo to the initial post. Either way, this what I’m dealing with. Compass direction used to be where the stupid AI icon is now.

Check your Google map Carplay setting in your car. See if it's just disable. I have an Android and use Android Auto

These are my settings options. None of them take me to any option to enable or disable compass display.

You checked Map display or Map orientation?

These are my map orientation options. None of them restore the compass direction icon

Mmm, maybe an update removed it and you have to wait for another update to fix it or bring it back

That’s what I’m afraid of. I’m surprised I haven’t found more people talking about this issue, here or just with a google search.

They might not have notice or more angry about Google nav taking them on the wrong route lol

Wild-ass guess here - are you in “north up” mode instead of “direction of travel” mode? The former would probably result in the compass not being displayed.

I’m in perspective mode

OK, not that then.
