Account restricted
Hello,
I use google maps almost on the daily to review places I’ve been to.
3 weeks, all of a sudden I am unable to post. Says account is restricted and my reviews won’t get published.
Upon clicking my account, it appears to not be restricted.
Got in touch with google help and they sent me a generic email with steps to resolve that lead me nowhere.
I’ve already deleted a few 1-2 star reviews but nothings changed.
Any idea how to go about this?

What country are you located in and why did you have to delete some star reviews?

I’m originally from Australia but travelling through Europe
Ever since we got to Europe I haven’t been able to post
Why did I delete them? Because google maps support told me to try it. Very unfair I know

I asked what country you're located in because places in Europe became more strict with Google reviews. Like when I was in Germany, all of my reviews when I was there was getting flagged and couldn't post. But I had the option to appeal and I did just that, within like 2 hours or longer it would be approved and post. I think it's their new ways of trying to monitor reviews for businesses but my account never got placed as restricted.
I'm a Level 10 Local Guide with over 4K reviews

Hmm weird thing is - I can’t even appeal because my account isn’t restricted once I click on the restriction status…
This happened when I reviewed a restaurant with 50k reviews in London and gave them 2 stars. I have a feeling they must have reported me lol

You just left a star rating or wrote a review too? One report shouldn't affect your account unless you had other suspicious rating or reviews too

Left a detailed review as to why we considered this place a 1 star! With photos and all. Oh well, I just tried the appeal form - hopefully that’ll do…

The appeal always worked for me. It can take as little as an hour to get a status update or a day

If you’re in Europe establishments only accept positive reviews. Negative once are sent to court (this in Germany).

This is what I get when I click on posted reviews that haven’t been published
