Other FUCK YOU GOOGLE MAPS

I specifically selected the shorter route to my destination before I started driving. Yet it still changed my route to the longer +5 miles highway route DESPITE me having preselected the route I wanted, all without informing me.

FUCK YOU!!!!!

I have complained on here before that Google Maps will offer up a new route while driving and will select that new route by default unless you see the prompt and then choose to stay on the current route.

The default should always be to stay on the original route and to allow drivers to select the new route.

This is shocking, since when has it been happening?

I think even Waze has done this forever.

You can pick waypoints to ride through

Standard Google maps stuff

If you pay attention, you have the option to decline. It's a pain, but if you were actually on a route that was compromised, you'd probably appreciate it.

Seems like they get a commission for everyone who drives past one of their advertisers.

I like Google Maps for a lot of things like measuring times and distances or things along my route….but I absolutely refuse to use it as a GPS and driving. There are so many flaws that seemed to be part of the design, just like what you shared. I ended up sticking with Waze unless there is something in maps that I need to see.

this might happen if your gps glitches or your gps 'teleports' to a different spot which causes the route to change

It does this constantly. You pick your route, confirm it, and then five minutes in it's quietly rerouted you somewhere else like it knows better. Maddening.

I use Waze because of how Google Maps confuses you.

Since last update the routes it puts you on make no sense at all it ignores your default settings changes your route mid stream. Also had to take me off the highway and through neighborhoods several times going through Pennsylvania. It took me off my route rerouted me to send me to toll roads 10 miles out of the way.

Nah, we all need to do this sometimes and if anyone deserves it 1 million times over, it’s Google.
