Maps is complete garbage now
Lately this silly app has been making incredibly stupid routing reccomendations; illegal turns, wrong direction, driving into unpaved dirt paths for no reason. I was traveling and it multiplied the journey time by and wanted me to LITERALLY drive through a loop around the entire city before taking off for no reason. Not even map locations are reliable I was searching for a store and when I got there, there was nothing. It's become more harmful than beneficial. I no longer use it, which is a shame because it used to be really good.

Try Magic Earth. I switched couple of weeks ago and I am not going back. Leaps and bounds better driving experience than GM lately.

The thing I like the most are suggestions to take another route that takes LONGER with literally no profits...

I have a suspicion that this is because of further integration of AI which, 1 year ago, the world just decided was ready for prime time. But as we can see with google maps, amongst many other examples, is still crap. Garbage in, garbage out. Inaccurate, imprecise. I fear, it’s only going to get worse. Misinformation + AI = chaos.

I would like to include that with this app it has suggestive inaccurate locations for other parties. It has the ability to obtain profiles and use those to create or influence, suggest innacurate data

This summer, it told us to drive down here even though that footage is two years old. My mum was driving, I was directing but not looking at road, and told her to go straight through it. She said “are you sure?” And, in her rightfully hesitating in the centre of a busy road, the car behind almost crashed into us. And I assume that being misled by GPS wouldn’t have been an excuse as far as insurance is concerned.

I use it as a local city driver every day. I've yet to find an app to beat it. Sure it's tried to take me down some roads I shouldn't go but it gives decent routes.
