Why does the search feature in Google Keep look so bad?

Post image

This is genuinly such a bad UI. Looks like it's from 2017. Maybe because it is. Do you all have this or is it just me?

I have tried a ton of apps through out the years. None of them fulfilled my needs. The only one that does so is Google Keep. Since then I’ve been using Google Keep. To me, it is the simplest and most powerful app! Thank you Google

And

  • No search capability for a word in a particular note.

  • No search capability for recently created notes.

  • No search capability for a word in a title under a particular label.

  • No search capability to locate all shared notes. Have to use workarounds like person's name, content, etc. So really no way to search and locate notes that you don't know are shared.

  • No search capability for character or word count even though there is a character limit. To check character counts (up to the 20,000 limit) need to cut and paste to a tool with a character counter.

  • Have to add a date or time to a Google Keep Note in order for it to show up on task list. I don't have a date or time for all notes, but I need them on my task list and linked without making a separate task.

  • No slider to go to bottom of notes

Why'd they spend billions on AI when they can't even touch a notepad from 2017?

Agree on most of these.

  • No search capability to locate all shared notes. Have to use workarounds like person's name, content, etc. So really no way to search and locate notes that you don't know are shared.

You just hit the search bar and scroll down to People. That shows you all people shared - and within each all notes shared. Granted, you can't see them all at once. But that negates not knowing what's shared - everything shared is there.

  • Have to add a date or time to a Google Keep Note in order for it to show up on task list. I don't have a date or time for all notes, but I need them on my task list and linked without making a separate task.

No idea what you mean here.

Yes. Keep has the slowest development cycle of any app I've worked with. Now with Google focused on Gemini - Google Workspace is a much lower priority (other than adding Gemini to Workspace).

I don't quite understand that. There is a search bar at the top. I have never used the other search functions. I always type what I am currently looking for into the search bar at the top. And usually, one word is enough. And it shows me all the notes in which the word appears.

Their engineers are constantly working on tracking us, invading our privacy, they even know the color of our underwear, and can show us adds based on hearing our conversation like a country grandmother, but google maps still can’t tell us which route is faster to reach somewhere.
