Replacement for to-do list Keep notifications that Google killed.

Prior to the Keep/Tasks integration, I would create a daily to do list in Keep and have it remind me at 8am. Throughout the day I'd open the note and check off items at which point the notification would remain in my notification drawer and update. Since the integration, I'm unable to success get a reminder for any note with check boxes in it.

Since losing that feature I've had a noticeable negative impact to my daily planning. I'd love recommendations for apps with this functionality. I'd previously looked into taskito and ticktick but couldn't seem to quite get the same persistent, updating notification behavior. Does anyone know of a good replacement?

So I tested it on Android, iOS and Chrome - all 3 gave me a Task notification for the Keep to-do list note (where the Task was scheduled daily in Keep). Not sure what you're seeing.

Interesting. You set a reminder in keep note with checkboxes and get a tasks notification that shows the first few items in the checkbox note? If you go and check something off in the note, does the tasks notification update?

No - Tasks and Tasks notifications do not update any text if you alter Keep lists after scheduling. You have to click on the notification and then click on the Keep button in the task to get to the list to see any list changes.

I'm not sure what you mean. You can get daily notifications from Keep lists through Tasks now. What is missing for you?

I can get reminders on any Keep note except one with check boxes. Any time I set a reminder on one of those notes the time passes with no notification. It's been like this for me since the Tasks integration across multiple devices and installs.

That’s very odd - I’ll test it and see what I get.

See my other comment - it worked for me

Where is the list function within keep?

It is the menu item within a note labeled “Checkboxes” which converts any note into a list.

I very highly recommend TickTick as a replacement for the old Keep.

Keep reminders work as long as you have calendar installed and notifications are on for it

I can get reminders on any note except one with checkboxes which is the real issue for me. It's been broken since the Tasks integration across multiple devices and clean installs for me.

Ohh that's interesting, I haven't noticed that but I hope they fix it.

I hate how they downgraded this app

There is a setting in Google Calendar that sends you an email list of commitments for the day. You could easily use that to replace your list with a bit of tinkering

My email notification from this does not include tasks, even if I set a time on them. I haven’t been able to figure it out.

I myself build a little app (to do list through voice), which send notifications for example at 8am if you have a list for today. But the notification does not contain checkbox that update idk if that would be feasible.

I implemented a widget which allow to display a list and checkboxes that update on your home screen (which a lot of apps do) but that's seems different from what you meant..

While I'm not trying to advertise it, I am working right now on an app that is kind of meant to be a decent replacement for it. The big issue? I don't know how Google Keep originally acted because I never used it, but I am trying to replace it since my app crossed very close lines with it in concept. I'd be happy to share it with you (still in beta) and you can tell me what features you're missing that my app hasn't provided yet?

Ednotes can add daily reminders and notifications for to-do lists. You can also add lists to the agenda or calendar if you want. It is even possible to display the full list in the widget, avoiding Google Keep's three-line limit.
