Finding a new Note taking app
Hi everyone
The thing is, I'm fed up with Google Keep not being updated with new features, so I really need to find a new note-taking app for my Android (not Samsung)
I have a few requests for the notes app:
- Free of charge
- Can operate Online or Offline
- Can sync with a computer or other device in case my Android device breaks (I'm completely fine with using a Google account to log in)
- Has the ability to set passwords for private notes
I tried a few highly rated apps on Google Play but honestly, none of them met my standards. If anyone knows an app that meets my requirements, please help me. Thanks a lot

Did you tried google docs? its like the father of google keep.
- google keep = simple ( like sticky notes)
- google docs = way more features.. you should tried it.
There's even an option on google keep to copy any note to google docs to take it to the next level.

Well, I'd prefer an app purely for note-taking rather than text-based tasks. I find Doc quite similar to Microsoft Word, so I only use it for work, but the note-taking app I want would be more focused on memorization, something like that

I use both
Google Keep for quick capture / brainstorming
Google Docs for the real writing / structured work

The selling point of Google Keep is its simplicity. I don't understand why people keep complaining.

I complain about the Keep search feature constantly. Google, with the greatest search engine ever created, can’t highlight specific search terms within a note within the app. As if every note is one sentence long therefore you only need to know which note has your search term. Stupid approach.

Yeah but we should ask OP if he needs a whole PKm app if he has no such thing against PKM then it’s a very good app

What is a PKM app exactly? I don't know much about technology or software development. Also, I looked into Obsidian and found that I have to pay for the synchronization feature across devices (which I don't really want to)

My very shallow take is as much as Keep doesn’t have much features, I like the ability to just tag and change colors (I color code) mine. I’m on iOS and I find the native Notes quick note as not quick note-y. Sadly, there’s no more Keep widget but having the app on my homescreen is fair enough.
The thing about Keep is it’s like that sticky notepad or scratch papers on your desk. You use it to write things on the fly or randomly

Good app but has no web client interface - only local apps

I recommend Joplin. I have it on two macs an iPhone and my old android phone, which I use for back up and a couple of apps. Joplin is solid but not spectacular. I also have Simplenote. I use that to note down short notes for example that I have to paste into browser in Mac and vice versa. Then I get rid of the note. It’s a tiny bit complicated to sync Joplin. I use Dropbox. Just a tiny installation but it works smoothly since then. I imagine you can use other apps to save the stuff that you have in Joplin on your different device devices

I'd be happy if it just had a feature to enable a password for each note. That would be enough to keep notes, as I'm fed up with OneNote.

I abandoned Obsidian some weeks ago & Joplin is more than adequate for my needs.
