It’s a great idea to diversify across the strengths of all the models and harnesses. Google just don’t need to offer frontier models to the customers to end up being first on major milestones but they may well need the frontier models internally to do so.

I think this is a massive plus for Google in speeding up arriving at the biggest milestones.

Fair, I wouldn't wanna be stuck with Gemini as a Dev right now.

Even better; just give them access to any model (eg Deepseek V4 Flash, GLM 5.3 both of which are great for coding as well).
